Girls Not Brides has catalysed a global network of organisations, national partnerships and coalitions committed to ending child marriage and enabling girls to fulfil their potential. Girls Not Brides works to empower those seeking to end child marriage; to raise awareness of the harmful practice and the solutions to end it, and to call for urgent action by relevant stakeholders.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Officer for Regional Engagement and Advocacy.  Based within the Africa Team, you will report to the Head of Africa and work closely with colleagues globally.

This is a pivotal role within the organisation, playing a key role in maintaining and raising the visibility and increasing awareness and understanding of our advocacy work, both internally and externally, including through representing the organisation in key forums and coalitions in Africa and scoping out areas to grow our influence at the national and regional levels.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that relevant regional and sub-regional African institutions encourage governments to implement the commitments made on ending child marriage. The person will also contribute to efforts to mobilise and influence regional high-level institutions and processes to secure increased political and financial commitments in Africa to end child marriage.

The person will have a track record of leveraging advocacy for change, familiarity with the workings of the African Union, regional blocs, human rights bodies governments, NGOs, and professional associations in Africa and adept at managing relationships with external stakeholders.

This role is located in Niger or Senegal and the successful candidate must have the right to work in the location they are based.

Responsibilities include:
Catalyse collective action and influencing to accelerate change in addressing child marriage in Africa at regional and sub regional level.
Strengthen our role as a knowledge hub in Africa and support ‘learning for influencing’ in the region.
Provide critical support to strengthening Girls Not Brides National Partnerships and other networks and alliances at the national level in Africa.
Secretariat’s Country Focal Point in the West and Central Africa sub-region.
Contribute to the broader work of Girls Not Brides with knowledge of the sub-regional context and the perspective of members from the region, as needed.

Salaire

Please note this role will be offered on a two-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of extension or renewal.

The salary for this role will be competitive to the market and dependent on the location of the successful of the individual.
