Job opportunity in Senegal – Translator.

Under the overall supervision of the Regional Media and Communications Officer, and the direct supervision of the Awareness Raising and Communications Associate, the selected candidate will be expected to:

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

 Provide basic translation of work-related documents such as reports and formal texts from French to English and vice versa;
 Ensure translation is done following the IOM standards, correct grammar and spelling;
 Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education
 Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Translation, Interpretation, and/or a related field from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience; or
 High school Diploma/Certificate in the above fields with six years of relevant professional experience.

Experience
 4-6 years of professional translation experience in the relevant area;
 Good understanding of technical terms used in areas of migration and international development;
 Proven translation skills from French to English and vice versa;
 Excellent communication skills in both English and French.

Languages
 Fluency in English and French is required.
