Context:
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission, and in coordination with the Regional Thematic Specialists (RTS), the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the US State Department’s Bureau for Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM) funded program “Support to vulnerable Malian refugees and selected host communities through livelihood opportunities and protection activities in the North Region, Burkina Faso”.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1. Manage the project’s implementation in a timely manner, overseeing its financial, administrative and technical aspects, in line with IOM’s policies and procedures, as well as donor requirements.
2. Monitor project progress specifically aimed at increasing effectiveness and recommending appropriate action.
3. Supervise the staff assigned to the project, as well as consultants/ implementing partners (IPs) recruited to support and/or undertake specific activities.
4. Supervise and monitor compliance to project partners, project staff and implementing entities and liaise with Burkinabe governmental representatives at national and local levels, Non-Governmental Organisation (NGOs) and other local partners.
5. Ensure coordination with other IOM units – Protection, Finance, Logistics & Procurement, among others, for a smooth implementation of all project activities.
6. Liaise with Government entities and, other implementing partners, United Nations (UN) agencies and other stakeholders in the project’s target countries.
7. Prepare progress and other reports and ensure proper information exchange on all operational aspects of the project between IOM, the US Department and other stakeholders, State Department’s Bureau for Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM).
8. Ensure adequate information management on project related activities including visibility; regular updates, summaries, press releases and other relevant materials, in coordination with the donor and IOM’s Communication team.
9. Review as per donor requirements and IOM policy and/or prepare quality progress reports, financial reports and other reports related to project activities.
10. Support with drafting and developing new projects.
11. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
• Master’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, Business Administration, Migration Studies, International Relations, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
• University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
• Experience in project management, implementation and project development;
• Experience in coordination of various projects to ensure maximum outputs;
• Experience in liaising with government authorities and other national/international institutions;
• Demonstrated expertise in the thematic area relevant to project development;
• Previous experience with UN and International Agencies, international or local NGOs preferred.
Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
For this position, fluency in French and English is required (oral and written).

Other:
Internationally recruited professional staff are required to be mobile.
