Know Your Team
Nutrition International’s Program Operations Unit is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of Nutrition International’s core program interventions including program development, design, planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting, and grant management, including setting annual operational planning, budgeting and review processes. The unit comprises a global team of professionals located in our 10 core countries across Asia, Africa and our headquarters in Ottawa, Canada. Currently, Nutrition International is seeking applications for Zonal Coordinator to be based in Kedougou/Tambacounda, Senegal.
About the role
The Zonal Coordinator will be responsible for the timely and effective implementation of PINGS activities in the field in line with project objectives. They will work in close collaboration with implementing partners and local government agencies based in her/his zone to ensure annual, quarterly and monthly work plans are developed, implemented and monitored as well as ensuring resources are properly used to deliver the project results expected from the Kedougou and Tambacounda zones. He/she will be representing the PINGS project in regional and zonal coordination structures and will maintain the linkage between the PINGS project and regional government agencies and partners.
In this role you will be:
Program Development & Planning
- Provide regular updates on the gender, nutrition, and sexual reproductive health landscape in the project zones.
- Incorporate changes in the project plans based on the evolving landscape.
- Guide and lead project staff and government agencies in developing work plans and budgets.
- Coordinate planning meetings and ensure synergy with implementing partners.
- Translate recommendations from reviews and evaluations into action plans.
- Integrate PINGS project plans into regional and local development plans.
Program Implementation and Management:
- Collaborate with implementing partners to ensure adherence to project approaches and guidelines.
- Consolidate and analyze monthly and quarterly reports, providing recommendations.
- Conduct field visits to provide support and technical direction.
- Oversee data collection and reporting for project monitoring.
- Ensure timely and successful implementation of planned activities.
- Contribute to documentation of lessons learned.
- Provide regional inputs to donor reports.
- Maintain up-to-date project-related documentation.
- Develop quarterly cash flow projections.
- Ensure project activities align with the approved budget.
- Build and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders and implementing partners.
- Represent NI at regional and zonal meetings and task forces/working groups.
- Maintain positive communication with government agencies and other stakeholders.
- Manage the budget for office operations.
- Ensure the project office meets safety, security, and hygiene standards.
- At least a Master’s degree in health or nutrition.
- At least 5 years relevant experience, 3 of which must be in management, gender and relevant sexual reproductive health issues.
- Experience working with national governments and other institutions is required
- Practical understanding of regulatory decision-making in Senegal.
- Attention to detail, good research and analytical skills
- Strong written, verbal and communication skills
- Team player, strategic thinker, self-starter, good communicator, and skilled networker
- Proven organizational ability and excellent time-management skills
- Fluency in French and working knowledge of English. Fluency in local languages is an advantage
