Description NRC has been present in DR Congo since 2001 and currently runs operations in the Provinces of North & South Kivu, Province Orientale and Kasai and Tanganyika Province with offices in Goma, Bukavu, Beni, Bunia, Kananga and Kalemie. The program has an annual turnover of approximately NOK 308M. The DR Congo operation responds to populations affected by conflict and displacement. We reached around 700.000 beneficiaries with education, food security, ICLA, WASH/shelter and Rapid Response Mechanism projects.

The purpose of the Rapid Response (RR) Working Group Coordinator position is to insure proactive and dynamic coordination of the Working Group. Facilitate the collective work on the priority projects defined by the members. Support positive communication among stakeholders.

The Rapid Response Working Group Coordinator report to the Head of Program

Duties and responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, management, and clear strategic direction to the RRM stakeholders
  • Liaise with other Cluster/WG coordinators and co-leads to ensure sector-specific outputs, outcomes and approaches in line with sector-specific minimum standards
  • Develop (and/or review on an ongoing basis) harmonized RR model and minimum standards
  • Facilitate communication among Rapid Response type mechanisms
    Lead constant high-level discussions with members, partners and donors to insure a dynamic and flexible countrywide Rapid Response Mechanism
  • Develop the visibility of the Rapid Response working group through website, logo, visual, etc.
  • Advocate for harmonization of practices among partners involved in Rapid Response
  • Support the ongoing process to enhance RR partners capacities for information sharing and analysis (alerts, reports, etc.)
  • Establish, maintain, and coordinate successful relationships with numerous stakeholders and partner
Ville oma with 30% Travel (Kinshasa and humanitarian hubs: Bukavu, Kalemie, Kananga). Goma is a non-family posting. International staff members are required to live in joint accommodation.
Expériences / Formation du candidat
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience from a senior management position in a humanitarian contextExperience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented/proven results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
  • Fluency in French and English, both written and verbal
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of the context in DR Congo
  • Experience leading emergency response
