Founded in 1950, Doctors with Africa CUAMM was the first NGO focused on healthcare to be recognized by the Italian government. It is now one of the leading organization working to protect and improve the well-being and health of vulnerable communities in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The NGO promotes long-term health cooperation projects, intervening also in emergencies to ensure that services are available to all.

Doctors with Africa CUAMM is currently active in 8 Sub-Saharan countries: Angola, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Central African Republic, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda.

The NGO supports public and non-profit hospitals, local districts, schools of nursing and midwifery, university faculties of medicine.

 

Job position: Area Admin/Finance Manager

Location: Mozambique, Cabo Delgado Region, Pemba

Application deadline: 31st May 2024*

Start date: mid/end-June 2024

Duration: 12 months

Purpose of the role
Working in close collaboration with project managers, the Area Admin/Finance Manager will be responsible for the administrative management of ongoing projects in the area.

This includes ensuring compliance with administrative and procurement procedures, preparing financial reports, and supervising the management and maintenance of accounting by national accountants.

Key duties

  • supervise accounting
  • monitor project expenditures and assist project managers in budgeting and drafting periodic financial reports
  • ensure adherence to procurement procedures
  • maintain accurate documentation of expenditures and financial transactions for reporting purposes
  • manage cash and bank accounts dedicated to projects
  • supervise administrative and logistics national staff
  • assist project managers in preparing quarterly funding requests
  • guarantee that projects activities are properly documented
  • support project managers in the administrative management of local staff and process their contracts

Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, University Degree in Economics or equivalent title
  • Excellent knowledge of Portuguese; the knowledge of English and/or Italian will be an asset
  • Proficiency in utilizing accounting software applications
  • Previous experience in administrative finance management of international cooperation projects in fragile countries and/or low resources settings
  • Adaptability to live and work in a volatile context

 

TERMS OF CONTRACT

Type of contract: collaboration contract

Salary: TBD according to NGO salary grids and compensation policy (basic salary for the job position, with possible increase based on professional experience and risk allowance)

Rest days: 2.5 days for each month of work, for contracts longer than 4 months

Flight ticket: one return flight for the first collaboration for up to 12 months

Health issues: the NGO provides health insurance and covers vaccination costs

Visa and permits: the NGO bears the cost and paperwork for visa

Accommodation: provided by the NGO, it is generally individual, depending on the logistical situation and the availability of accommodation in the workplace

Other costs: the NGO covers costs related to housing utilities and internet; food and personal expenses are covered by the worker
