Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy Fund in the UK

The Brent Council has announced the applications for the Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy Fund to provide grants for community projects that support the regeneration of the borough.

At least 15 per cent of all the money they collect from new, eligible, developments in the borough must be spent on priorities that are agreed in consultation with the local community.

Brent is divided into five ‘CIL Neighbourhoods’; Harlesden, Kilburn and Kensal, Kingsbury and Kenton, Wembley, and Willesden. The value of NCIL grant funding available may vary between Neighbourhoods.

Funding Information
The maximum amount, which applicants can apply for, is £50,000.
The Total budget across Brent is £1,500,000 and is split across the NCIL neighbourhoods.
What can you use the grant for?
In order to be considered for funding, project proposals must:

Meet the Types of Infrastructure that can be funded within the CIL regulations
Evidence local community backing for the project proposed
Support ongoing development in a specific Brent NCIL Neighbourhood
Be a one off project
Meet at least one of the identified priorities in the Neighbourhood in which the project will be delivered
Reflect the strategic priorities of the Council within the Borough Plan
Demonstrate sound project costing and value for money
Engage with diverse Brent Communities
Eligibility Criteria
This can include:

Charities
Businesses
Constituted community groups
Social Enterprises/Community Interest Companies (C.I.C)
Schools
Organisations able to comply with the council’s Grant aid standard conditions
