The Greater Shepparton City Council has announced Minor and Major Grants to support local tourism festivals and events by way of cash support, in kind support and marketing assistance.

3-year Pilot Grant-making Program to assist Small and New NGOs. Deadline to apply: 15 August 2021

An Opportunity for NGOs engaged in eradicating Child Labour, Forced Labour, and Human Trafficking. Deadline to apply: 15 August 2021

Grants for Researchers working in the Arts, Humanities, or Social Sciences + Fully-funded to the US. Deadline to apply: 1 October 2021

Unrestricted Grants for improving Health Equity and reducing Health Disparities among Vulnerable Communities

Round one, of the Minor and Major Events grants will be looking at events with a community focus, continuing the enhancement of community spirit, participation and wellbeing.

The grants will continue to assist in the reactivation of events from the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic, giving support for the event and sustainability for the future. This can be achieved via the following categories:

Sporting events
Arts and cultural events which celebrate the diversity and cultural heritage of the regions such as: Indigenous events, Art and Music events, Multicultural events
Business events and conferences
Community events and festival’s
The Minor and Major Events Grants are available through Greater Shepparton City Council to encourage and enable Not for Profit groups to facilitate events that contribute positively to the wellbeing of the community that also contribute to the stimulation of the local economy in a positive manner

Events Calendar: To support events held within the Greater Shepparton municipality increasing the capacity to increase visitation and community wellbeing.
Tourism Marketing and Promotion: To promote Greater Shepparton as an attractive place to live, visit and invest.
Not for Profit Initiatives:To support Not for Profit entities to drive and facilitate events that benefit the community and the visitor economy.
Minor Event Grants

The Minor Event funding stream is for smaller size events. Grants are available from $500 up to $2,000 for a one off event. The event grant application should align with, and address the following objectives:

Economic Benefit: to maximise the economic benefits to their community from scheduled festivals, cultural events, business events and sporting activities.
Celebration: to encourage a diverse range of events to celebrate the visitor economy product strengths in the region
Wellbeing: Encourage groups/organisations to deliver events that contribute to the wellbeing of the Greater Shepparton community
Capacity Building: Help develop event coordination skills of the Greater Shepparton community
Social Benefits: To build social relationships for their culturally diverse region by fostering and strengthening supportive inclusion between individuals and diverse groups

Event tourism to the region: to sustainably build the profile of events in the region to attract visitors from outside the local area and to sustainably build the volume and yield of the region’s visitor experience products.
Regional profile: To generate interest and lift the profile, brand, liveability and reputation of Greater Shepparton throughout Victoria, Australia and internationally.
Celebration: to encourage a diverse range of events to celebrate the tourism product strengths in the region.
Wellbeing: Encourage groups/organisations to deliver events that contribute to the wellbeing of the Greater Shepparton community.
Social Benefits: To build social relationships for their culturally diverse region by fostering and strengthening supportive inclusion between individuals and diverse groups.
Education: to develop general public and community awareness and understanding about the benefit of the visitor economy and create tourism opportunities in the region.
Capacity Building: Help develop event coordination skills of the Greater Shepparton community.
Eligibility Criteria

Applications are open to groups and organisations that operate as a not-for-profit entity.
Individuals can not apply. Organisations are only eligible for one Minor & Major Event Grant per year.
The organisation or group applying must be legally Incorporated and hold an Australian Business Number (ABN). Where an application is made by a group that is not Incorporated the applicants will need to nominate another incorporated not-for-profit Community Group,
Organisation or Club that is willing to manage the grant funds (“auspice the grant”) on their behalf. A letter will be required from your auspice organisation confirming their willingness to accept the auspice role.
