Head of MFS

Job Description:

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Strategy Development & Implementation
Deliver business goals set by EXCO and in accordance with overall OpCo strategy

Ensure the development of Financial Services follows a strategic growth plan, with the provision of a clear direction and structure

Provide overall direction for Financial Services by analysing changes in the competitive landscape, analysing trends, costs, forecasts and implementing them into the business plan

KPI: Strategy and business plan

Operations management
Develop and implement clear framework for the management of the MFS
operations including but not limited to partners, banks, merchants and agents.

Responsible for all fees and commissions structure with a view of
providing the channel with an attractive value proposition. Establish and document PPP’s with consistent review ensuring auditability and traceability.

KPI: KYC compliance, Commission payments, Float management, bank and partner reconciliation

Product Revenue Stream Performance
MFS Product development and maintenance with the responsibility of achievement of budget targets within each stream.

KPI:Revenue and users against budget

Product and Ecosystem Development Planning

Manage annual product and ecosystem expansion planning cycle.

Consolidation of efforts across all Commercial streams to ensure
seamless demand pipeline management.

KPI: Annual product roadmap signed-off by management, agreed with
Technical, CAPEX budgeted for in business plan

Training and information on products
Organise and supervise training of all staff, especially frontline staff on existing, new products and services. Ensure readily available, constant and accurate information on TIGO and competitor’ products and services to enable frontline staff respond to customer needs and queries.

KPI: Periodic surveys to gauge staff level of knowledge and
understanding of products and services. Customer Satisfaction index

Product Innovation
Track industry and technology developments, identify new product
opportunities to ensure that TIGO maintains innovation leadership.

KPI: Periodic technology updates. Quality and relevance of new product ideas and initiatives as gauged by external concept tests

Competitor monitoring
Tracking of competitor R&D investments and new product capabilities, new product launches

KPI: Periodic reports and analysis on all competitor products in the market, features, functions, relative advantage

Budget management
Manage allotted OPEX budget for Product Development section.

KPI: Periodic budget analysis, updates and reports, Cost effectiveness measures

Manage partners & suppliers
Identify strategic partners & suppliers of soft components of
products (content providers, rights owners etc…) to secure competitive advantage for TIGO. Manage contracts and relationship for key partners & suppliers.

KPI: Exclusive TIGO access to contents & rights, contracts,
revenues generated through partnership

Internal Coordination
Manage relationship with other departments involved in product
development process to ensure timely delivery of projects.

KPI: Regular feedback on projects and products, documentation &
implementation of internal processes to facilitate collaboration.
Implementation of structured Product Development Lifecycle Process for Tigo Senegal

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years experience in same field or related
qualification in Finance, Administration, Engineering or Marketing MBA

Masters degree (Advantageous)

Important competencies required for the position: Strong project management skills ;
Financial and business acumen; Familiarity with telecoms industry; technology & platforms, ability to understand technical terms; Strong planning skills, ability to coordinate plans across several departments;
Financial literacy: basic understanding of finance principles, ability to perform cost & benefits, break even
analysis; Strong language and negotiation skills; ability to discern and protect TIGO’s interests in negotiations with Service suppliers; Ability to understand service platform requirements, translate customer requirements to technical solutions; Analytical skills, ability to use and understand analytical models to interpret trends and patterns in product usage; Understanding of core Marketing principles and their importance; segmentation, targeting, positioning,interaction of marketing mix; Understanding of market
research principles. Ability to interpret and use research data and findings; Excellent computer skills. Familiarity with most used computer programs and tools: Excel, Powerpoint, Access, etc…
