Mercy Ships recruits 01 Transport and Maintenance Manager (Volunteer).
This is a volunteer role onboard the Africa Mercy, a hospital ship, currently serving in Dakar, Senegal.
Summary: Maintain and repair of ship’s vehicles. Secondary responsibilities include the maintenance and repair of ship’s forklifts and power equipment (including generators and compressors).
Job Description:
Mercy Ships is more than just a ship. We also have a series of land vehicles ready to be deployed for up-country relief and assistance. This is where our Transport and Maintenance team comes in. This team is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all vehicles as well as power equipment and other machinery. While the marine team keeps us ready to sail, this team keeps us ready to roll.
The Transport & Maintenance Manager volunteer position, part of the Operations department, will be located on the Africa Mercy, the world’s largest non-governmental hospital ship. The preferred minimum time commitment for this role is twelve months.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
- Experience in a supervisory capacity, preferably in maintenance
- Skilled in data entry and spreadsheet maintenance
- Basic knowledge of equipment and maintenance terminology
- Ability to speak and understand English effectively
- International Driver’s Permit required
