Job Purpose/Role

In his role as General Manager, the incumbent is responsible for following responsibilities:

Administrative Responsibility:

  •  Ensuring that all Corporate and local laws and regulations are complied with at all times
  •  Ensuring that the policies and processes of MAN Energy Solutions are complied with at all times
  •  Manage the systems and processes to ensure that the hub recruits, develops, and retains high quality employees that are offered wages, benefits, and opportunities that are competitive with peer companies
  •  Directly managing the leaders of the shared group functions (Finance & Controlling, HR, IT, HSEQ, etc.) to ensure they provide excellent support cost effectively to the three SBUs operating in the country
  •  Providing leadership and direction, via the dual leadership principle, to the in-country leaders of the Engines & Marine Systems SBU and the Power SBU and Turbomachinery SBU.
  •  Ensuring that all of his employees work in a safe and healthy work environment with minimal risk to themselves and others. Ensure a strong HSE culture in the organization and effective HSE processes are in place.
  •  Achieve and maintain certification of local facilities to the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 international standards

Business Responsibility:

  •  To organize the efficient operation of PrimeServ, securing the production level improving, increasing profit, quality and compatibility of service in accordance with approved Business Plan for PrimeServ development
  •  Taking part in developing of MAN PrimeServ policy, strategic and tactic tasks and targets, aimed at extending of our market sector, improving of our spare parts turnover
  •  To provide efficient financial and economic activity and reporting of PrimeServ Division
  •  Develop and maintain a personal network of key suppliers, customers, government agencies, and other local constituencies to ensure that MAN is well known and well regarded within the country. Act as an executive sponsor of major initiatives and frame agreements with key customers.
  •  Communicating the characteristics of the country business environment, including opportunities and risks, to the executive board as well as the leaders of the respective SBUs, so effective growth strategies can be developed and implemented
  •  To provide co-operation with global network of PrimeServ, and, when necessary, to support the component sale, license, purchasing and production departments of HQ’s in our areas

Job requirements

  •  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Technical major preferred
  •  MBA degree preferred.
  •  10+ years in the Marine Engine industry or Turbomachinery in general management, sales, marketing, or commercial roles, preferably both with new units as well as the aftermarket
  •  Previous direct managerial experience
  •  Previous experience developing and managing financial budgets
