About MAG in West Africa: MAG supports the development of countries emerging from conflict by finding and destroying the explosive remnants of war, so that communities can raise their families and pursue their livelihoods in a safe and secure environment, free from fear of death or injury. The main area of focus in MAG’s programmes across West Africa is Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM), working with national defence and security authorities towards the safe storage, management and destruction of weapons and munitions.

About the role: As Roving Programme Officer with MAG in West Africa, you will be responsible for providing support to the Regional Programmes Manager (RPM) in the effective integration of strategic, programmatic and operational management for grants implemented in Gambia, Guinea, Mauritania, Senegal and Sierra Leone. You will undertake a wide range of activities including grant and contract monitoring, information systems management, and proposal and report writing for donors. You will support the RPM in ensuring that programmes meet their contractual requirements, and in programme business planning and budgeting. Communication with donors and partners will be a core function of the role. This role will involve regular travel between Sierra Leone, Guinea and Gambia, and it is expected that the role will be based in Guinea when not travelling.

About you: The successful candidate will have significant experience working in development and humanitarian programme related field operations or field activities in developing countries. Project design and planning, proposal writing, report writing and research skills are essential, as is experience of developing and supporting projects. The ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels internally and externally is essential to this role and therefore we are looking for a candidate with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Fluency in English and professional proficiency in French (reading, written and spoken) are essential.
