We are looking for an experienced professional for the Area Depot Product Manager role within the Product Department of Northern West Africa Area (NWA) overseeing 8 countries.
The Area Depot Product Manager drives and grows the Depot product profitably within NWA using a two-fold strategy with on one hand (1) a top-down approach by translating global and regional strategy into Area Product and Performance plans, and (2) a bottom-up approach by identifying local market gaps and translating them into opportunities to further develop the Depot product. He/She is the mini-CEO of the Depot product, thus, owns the products strategy, thoroughly understands their P&L and how to act upon it to improve profitability and grow the products through the implementation strategic initiatives. He/She also provides support to the broader commercial organization with Depot product expertise and guidance to ensure that the strategy is executed as expected and guarantees a high level of customer satisfaction.
The Area Depot Product Manager key responsibilities include:
Product Strategy
- Implement and cascade Global and Regional Depot product guidelines within the Area
- Optimize and grow the Depot product portfolio within NWA (footprint/locations & services)
- Identify market trends, opportunities and customer needs as it relates to the Depot product
- Manage capacity and Depot product offering in accordance to market needs
- Build and drive business cases to invest in new assets/facilities to grow the Depot product
Product Profitability & Pricing
- Drive the Depot Product profitability in close partnership with Sales, Delivery & CX community
- Area responsibility for all Depot Pricing activities incl. but not limited to Price setting
- Responsibility for Strategy and Margins, cost saving initiatives
- Ensure Area Pricing in compliance with global governance
Product Performance Management
- Manage and improve the performance of the Depot product
- Maximize Depot product revenue, EBIT and GP through upselling and cost management, develop new revenue streams
- Strengthen the engagement with global network and drive value through the network
- Drive performance transparency and continuous improvement culture
Accountability for
- P&L, GP, EBIT
- Cost to serve
- Asset utilization
- Customer Pipeline
- Combined KPI
- Execution of Product strategy within area
Who are we looking for
An individual with relevant Depot experience and expertise with a strong financial knowledge (P&L, profitability, margin concepts), great business acumen, a commercial mindset and analytical skills. Specifically, below are the critical skillset sought for this role:
- Bachelor Degree in Logistics and/or Supply Chain
- At least 5 years of experience in Container Depots and/or Port Terminal activities
- Regional/Local market experience
- Project management experience
- Commercial acumen – knowledge of sales cycle, need for customer value proposition
- Financial acumen – ability to read, interpret and act on P&L
- Analytical skillset – ability to perform data analysis using intermediate/advanced Excel features
- Stakeholder management & collaboration experience in a matrix organization
- Great Communication & interpersonal skills
- Strategic mindset / Self-directed / Entrepreneurial
- Fluent in French and English
