Maersk is looking to hire an Area Legal Manager to join our team in Douala.
Reporting to the Head of IMEA Legal and Compliance Manager He/she will be responsible for ensuring Legal Compliance within the SWA Area.

Key responsibilitiesOverall responsible for legal and compliance for Cameroon, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, Gabon, Chad, Equatorial Guinea and Central African Republic.
• Proactive business partner for local management and flagging risks with a commercial and pragmatic approach towards problem solving.• Responsible for handling and overseeing of litigation in the area.• Responsible for engagement and managing of external legal counsel, including legal budget.• Supporting debt collection team with litigation for outstanding claims.• Support on corporate secretarial matters such as board meetings, appointments, corporate resolutions etc.• Advice and support on drafting of contracts and other legal documents.• Advising on various engagements (written or oral) with authorities.• Supporting other internal stakeholders on legal matters such as Human Resources, HSSE and procurement.
We are looking for• A minimum Bachelor’s degree in Law. A Master’s degree will be an advantage• Mastery of OHADA commercial law (Shipping law is a plus);• 3+ years of’ relevant experience in house or in a law firm. Industry experience is an advantage.• Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills.• Must be able to work under pressure with tight deadlines;• Attentive to details and results-oriented.• Has a good sense of urgency with strong capabilities to work with tight deadlines.• Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English and French.POSTULER
