We are currently looking to hire a Legal Manager to join our team.
He/she will be overall responsible for Maersk legal matters in The North West Africa Area of Maersk, which consists of Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, Gambia, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Guinea Bissau. Reporting to the Head of Legal for IMEA. The position will be based in Dakar, Senegal and is an individual contributor role.
Proactive business partner for Area and Country management and commercial functions. Flagging risks with a commercial and pragmatic approach towards problem solving. Coming up with initiatives to improve the legal service offering.

Key responsibilities• Responsible for handling and overseeing of litigation in the area.• Responsible for engagement and managing of external legal counsel, including legal budget.• Supporting debt collection team with litigation for outstanding claims.• Support on corporate secretarial matters such as board meetings, appointments, corporate resolutions etc.• Responsible for providing legal support on business development projects such a acquisition/divestment of companies and assets, the set-up of new business venture and joint venture project.• Advice and support on drafting of contracts and other legal documents.• Advising on various engagements with authorities.• Supporting other internal stakeholders on legal matters such as Human Resources, HSSE and procurement.
We are looking for• A minimum Bachelor’s degree in Law. A Master’s degree and having worked as qualified lawyer will be an advantage.• Mastery of corporate law, commercial contracting, litigation proceedings and regulatory matters. Experience in shipping law and/or logistics and mergers and acquisitions will be an advantage;• Good understanding of compliance laws and policies• Having worked as legal professional in the North West Africa Area;• A minimum 6 years’ experience as in-house counsel in a multi-national company or in private practice at a reputable firm (or both);• Speaks and writes English and French clearly;POSTULER
