Area Vendor Manager – Responsible for the day to day performance management of vendors (from analytics through to stakeholder management) ensuring that on time delivery, capacity and split of volumes is safeguarded as well as spot pricing/capacity needs are met.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing day to day performance of vendors (focus on South Africa) with functional support across the Southern Africa and Islands Area

Conduct Analytics and establish Dashboards / scorecards to do predictable and retro active analysis of day to day execution cycles (volume, capacity, utilisation and spend)

Provides insights to teams on supplier challenges and capabilities

Secures Ad-hoc quotes and capacity for physical inland products as required

Where needed, this role supports the Product, Procurement and Execution teams on corridor design, building new products with specific vendors (trucking and rail related primarily, but not limited to)

Works closely with procurement to support on sourcing strategy, vendor selection and negotiations

Track, measure and evaluate Vendor performance through regular and structured Vendor Management engagements

Cultivate and maintain relationships with strategic Vendors

Responsible for onboarding of new Vendors

Ad-hoc audits of Vendors to ensure compliance to Maersk’s policies.

Perform regular Vendor risk management and initiate mitigation actions

Key Requirements:

Good understanding of intermodal, transport management

Strong Analytical and reporting skills and capabilities

Leadership and people management experience

Procurement and negotiation skills

Stakeholder management across varying levels with exceptional presentation skills

Customer oriented

Continuous improvement mindset

High sense of urgency

Knowledge of local market
