In this role, the Financial Inclusion Officer will be responsible for leading the implementation of the financial inclusion workplan under the RBD CBT Strategy. The Officer will be responsible for working jointly with COs to develop financial inclusion roadmaps and provide guidance on how financial inclusion can be further mainstreamed into WFP’s cash programming. The Officer will also be responsible for working jointly with other cross functional units and working with key public and private sector partners.

Responsibilities

Under the overall direction and guidance of the Regional CBT Programme Policy Officer and in line with WFP corporate strategy, guidance materials and standards for CBT, the Financial Inclusion Officer, will have the following main responsibilities:

Oversee the implementation of the financial inclusion workplan of the RBD CBT Strategy.
Provide guidance to COs on how to mainstream financial inclusion and support COs in the development of financial inclusion roadmaps.
Compile and develop financial inclusion resources in French and English.
Work jointly with other RBD Units to support the mainstreaming of financial inclusion into other programme areas.
Serve as the main focal person for RBD’s financial inclusion funding streams and work jointly with COs and HQ on identifying additional funding for COs.
Work to maintain and develop additional partnerships with the public and private sector on financial inclusion.
Serve as main focal point with HQ financial inclusion team.
Other duties, as required.

Deliverables

Implement financial inclusion workplan.
Support CO financial inclusion roadmaps.
Compilation of financial inclusion resources in French and English.
Financial Inclusion partnerships in place and supporting COs.

Job requirements

Education: Bachelor degree in a relevant field Economics/Development Economics/ Development Studies/ Social Protection/Gender Studies.
Experience: 3 years or more of relevant progressive work experience in financial inclusion, education, cash based transfers, financial services, or adjacent field.
Knowledge & Skills: Knowledge of humanitarian and development challenges with a familiarity with financial inclusion, social protection, and cash based transfers. Knowledge and understanding of the United Nations and its role in humanitarian and development cooperation. Strong writing, analytical, research and reporting skills. Ability to use interactive visual collaboration and digital communication tools. Proficiency in MS Office (Word. Excel, Power Point, Outlook) is required.
