Job Details

Kantar is looking for an individual with excellent analytical and critical skills, able to build a believing relationship within the finance team, HR, client service, and operational teams.

The Accountant will report directly to the Financial Controller, West Africa. This position will have primary responsibility for statutory and fiscal reporting and coordinating local compliance and controls. They will also be responsible for supporting the Finance Controller and other business collaborators by providing information and analysis to enable decisions to be taken with a full understanding of the financial impact they will have. The role requires excellent financial and accounting skills, experience in dealing with regulatory bodies and leading an accounting team or working with a shared service center.

Key Outcomes

• Review and liaise with the relevant Shared Service center to ensure accurate and timely compliance with all fiscal and statutory reporting requirements for business divisions and country-level reporting including the application of WPP and Kantar accounting policies.
• Lead in maintenance, processing, and production of month/year-end, close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, journals, and associated underlying schedules.
• Manage relationships with local fiscal and regulatory bodies and review monthly, quarterly, and annual returns for accuracy and completeness.
• Ensure control compliance and other internal control requirements are in place.
• Responsible for coordinating month end and quarter end reporting schedules.
• Manage interactions with auditors and coordinate audit compliance activities and statutory accounts sign-off
• Coordinate the preparation of draft periodic budgets, capital plans, and forecasts working closely with the Finance Controller.
• Maintain close relationships with customer/ 3rd party delivery partner teams to ensure responsiveness to their needs, supervise service delivery and performance, and support customer concerns and resolution of any performance issues.
• Align with all company, local, state, and federal accounting and financial regulations and management of statutory tax audits.
• Ensure prompt preparation and payment of statutory remittances before the due date.
• Preparation and review of period close entries, and general ledger accounts reconciliation and analysis.

Role Requirements

• Tertiary education, preferably a degree (B. Com, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance).
• Preferably have an advanced finance qualification (CPA/ACCA/ACA).
• Advanced experience in Microsoft packages such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
• Must have a minimum of 6 years of working experience having previously operated in a service-orientated business.
• Experience of producing year-end accounts and preparation for audit.
• Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounting
• Proficient English and French speaker, accurately able to read and write English and to communicate efficiently.
• Ability to work in a changing and flexible organisation.
• Willingness to work flexibly across geographic time zones.
