The Journalism 360 Challenge

How might we experiment with immersive storytelling to advance the field of journalism?

This is an open call for ideas using immersive storytelling to discover new ways to engage audiences and advance the field of journalism.

Benefits

Ten projects will receive up to $20,000 each.

In addition to the funding opportunity, Challenge winners become part of the Journalism 360 ecosystem and have access to our ambassador team and a growing network of immersive storytellers. Our goal is to build a community of people who are passionate about new ways of storytelling and are excited to learn from one another and the community at large.

Eligibility

  • The challenge is open to journalists, technologists, entrepreneurs, gamers, software developers and academics, news organizations, startups, established businesses, nonprofits and individuals, anywhere in the world.
  • The Journalism 360 challenge is open to applicants from anywhere in the world. However, the application must be completed in English to be placed under consideration and receive fair evaluation by their reviewers.

Application

The deadline to apply is June 28, 11:59 p.m. Eastern (3:59 a.m. UTC).

They will ask a few questions to get a sense of your project, how you’re approaching it, and who you are. During the first stage, you do not need to provide a detailed budget or complete a request for a specific amount of funding. They’ll ask budget questions in the next stage for those entries selected as semifinalists.

While the submission phase is open, you can save your application as a draft and revisit any time.
