Inspiring Scotland: Increasing Understanding of Autism Programme

Applications are invited from organisations who wish to become part of a programme aimed at improving understanding and acceptance of autism in Scotland.

The Inspiring Scotland is looking to fund projects that will provide innovative ways of engaging non-autistic people to increase their understanding about autism, or that will support autistic people to access and participate in their communities.

Continuing to increase public understanding of autism and how it can impact upon a person’s life which results in reduced stigma and improved wellbeing for autistic people.
Reducing isolation for autistic people, increasing their sense of self-worth and improved confidence to navigate society and engage in communities.
Themes

Inspiring Scotland welcomes applications from third sector organisations who will:

Deliver resources, tools or other ways that help raise understanding of autism amongst the non-autistic population. The Steering Committee are looking for projects which show innovative ways of engaging nonautistic people and increasing their understanding about autism.
Use asset-based community development models to support autistic people to access and participate in their communities. The Steering Committee are interested in projects which support autistic people to access and participate in their communities again as they emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The funding will last for 18 months, from October 2021 to March 2023. The total funding for Phase Two is £400,000. This will be split amongst multiple projects and the maximum grant an organisation can apply for is £50,000.
Outcomes

The overall aim of the programme is to deliver improved outcomes for autistic individuals, as articulated in the Towards Transformation plan.

In order to be able to invest in a wide and interesting range of projects that support this aim, they have kept the outcomes at a high level.

All organisations must be able to demonstrate how they are autistic led, co-produced, or how they plan to consult autistic people in the development of their project.

They are from a registered Scottish charity. You can apply for this funding if you are a voluntary or community organisation based in Scotland. This includes a registered charity, constituted group or club, Community Interest Company (CIC) or Social Enterprise

The charity applying has experience of providing support for the autistic community
