Position: Program Coordinator (Ker ImagiNation and Generation 2025)

Responsible to: Network Manager and Director

Works in Close Coordination with: Lab Fellow; Financial Manager

Responsible for: Facilitators, Lab Fellows, Interns

General Roles and Responsibilities :
Become knowledgeable, familiar, and comfortable with the ImagiNation Afrika/ Ker ImagiNation philosophy, vision, mission, values, learning framework, and objectives. Become knowledgeable on the objectives, relevance, and pedagogy of design thinking. Put this knowledge into practice through the development and oversight of programs and projects.

Planning, development and administration of a variety of essential ImagiNation Afrika programs.

Responsibility for audience development 6-14 and 14+ through targeted activities, responsive to needs of youth, including out of school youth.

Outreach and liaison with educational community, including public and private primary, secondary and non formal educational settings for the purposes of program implementation and development.

Oversee the delivery of programs and exhibits with particular attention to the maintenance of high quality facilitator/child/visitor interaction.

Program Coordinator is also responsible for activity scheduling and working closely with external facilitators to develop special programs for young people 6 – 14 and 14 years and up.

Organize and support evaluation and impact assessment of programs, including those delivered through partners and/or outside facilitators.

Documentation of best program practices.

Programs:

Ker ImagiNation
1. After School/Vacation/Camp programming
2. Makerspaces (quarterly) Ker ImagiNation)
3. Children’s Exhibitions (quarterly) (Ker ImagiNation)

Tasks and Duties include:

• Primary support for Lab Fellows and Intern and Lab programs.

• Support and Direction in the development of Lab programming.

• Support in the creation of Lab Open source materials.

• Work with the Marketing and Communications team to profile programs and project outputs where appropriate.

• Oversight of the Labs during open hours; lead facilitation with children in the labs during after school, weekends and school visits.

• Support and direction of Lab fellows, including weekly meetings, facilitation support, development of curricula.

• Conduct independent research on learning methods and activities related to the Labs, and contribute to Lab resources for future Lab facilitators (contained within the google doc)

• Update, maintain (and add on-to) the google docs repository of all resources and documentation related to the Labs. Keep Lab program files up to date.

Generation 2025

• Support planning and coordination of project and its activities

• Work in close collaboration with Finance and Network Manager to ensure program coherence to financial and educational standards.

• Support in administrative detail and follow through.

• Outreach to partners and partner participants

• Close coordination with Logistics Coordinator for program coordination and logistics planning.

• Work closely with the Network Manager and Director to organize regular evaluations of G2025’s informal learning opportunities.

 

Skills/Requirements/Qualifications

• Fluent in French and Wolof. Pulaar helpful 🙂

• Relevant experience working with cultural non-profit and start-up organizations.

• Demonstrated experience working and leading children(camp, after-school, etc)

• Experience with maker spaces, design thinking and/or innovative STEM programming.

• Master’s in Science, Art, Design, Education or social science preferred.

• Dynamic, able to adapt to changing environment, cross cultural sensitivity, able to multitask and work under pressure.

• Excellent oral and written skills in at least French.

• Ability to travel for 15 days at a time, once a trimester.

• Strong customer relations skills.

• Strong computer and Internet research skills.

• Flexibility.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff.

• Team Player, Problem Solver and Active Track Record of Professional Pro-activity.

• Passionate about diversity and multi-lingual environments and a firm believer in African youth as changemakers.
