Organizational ContextThe International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC or “the Federation”) is the World’s largest volunteer-based humanitarian network. The Secretariat’s focus includes providing support to the IFRC governance mechanisms; setting norms and standards; providing guidance; ensuring consistency; coordination and accountability for performance; knowledge sharing; promoting collaboration within and respect for the RCRC Movement; and expanding engagement with partners. The Secretariat’s headquarters is organized in three main business groups: (i) Partnerships, including Movement and Membership; (ii) Programs and Operations; and (iii) Management. The Secretariat has five regional office, as follows: Americas (Panama City); Africa (Nairobi); Asia/Pacific (Kuala Lumpur); Europe (Budapest); Middle East and North Africa (Beirut). This position is based in Dondo District, in the province of Sofala, Mozambique to support CVM and IFRC in the implementation of the GVB Community based protection programme with especial focus on Prevention and response to Child marriage in Dondo District, the WASH/PGI for people with special needs and other activities related to awareness sessions, behavioral change, trainings, distributions implemented by the CVM and IFRC in communities at Dondo district and supporting the PGI project, if needed, in other areas of Sofala.
Job PurposeThe PGI assistant GVB and CP (Dondo) will support the PGI District Programme manager in all activities related to the GVB Community based protection programme with especial focus on Prevention and response to Child marriage in Dondo District, the WASH/PGI for people with special needs and other activities implemented by the CVM and IFRC in communities at Dondo district and outside the district and supporting the PGI project ensuring that the PGI standards are met and that all activities promote the dignity, access, participation, and safety of all girls, boys, women and men based on their different needs, capacities and vulnerabilities, and without discrimination based on age, gender, disability, religious, race, or legal status.
Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the PGI District Programme Manager she/he will be in charge of the implementing the GVB Community based protection program with especial focus on Prevention and response to Child marriage Dondo District with the following tasks:
Support the District Programme Manager in the implementation of the GVB Community based protection program with especial focus on Prevention and response to Child marriage Dondo District in all levels following the guidance and strategy established in the programme;The PGI programme Officer will perform the following task without being exclusively:Support the enrolment of the participants in the programme, motivate and mobilization of the community, provide information and all details in relation with the activity;Control of attendance and support the collection of data of activities and provide them to the line manager on time and keep all means of verification;Train and Motivate volunteers, and support in their activities;Maintain a good relationship with the community and its leaders;Support and Provide awareness sessions and behavioural change and the establishment of women and girls groups and skills for life regarding to the Programme;Report on time regarding the activities, Monitor and evaluate the activities as it is established in the M&E plan;Engage the target population in the activities established in the Programme and work closely with CEA teams on that;Identify and Refer protection cases to the PGI District Programme Coordinator;Collect data and distribute items for the programme and prepare and execute the Post distribution monitoring.Prepare materials for the trainings and programme;Support the Program Manager in PGI activities in Dondo District;Inform the Program Manager about problems, challenges and needs in logistics;Support the Program Manager in trainings on PGI, protection and SGBV;Support the Program Manager in the Liaison with CVM PSS team and the MHPSS specialised services in health centre and support the PSS technique the activities related to PSS in relation with the PGI programme.Actively work towards the achievement of the Federation Secretariat’s and CVM’s goals;Abide by and work in accordance with the Red Cross and Red Crescent principles;Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager.
EducationUniversity degree;Training on Gender and GVB;Training on Child Protection;Disabilities course.
ExperienceWorking or volunteer experience with CVM and / or IFRC;1 year Working experience in the same subjects or cooperation projects in GVB, Child protection or related;Leadership experience;In-country contextual understanding and operational experience;Experience in providing training;First-hand experience with logistics in distributions and collecting data.Knowledge, skills and languagesGood communication skills;Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;Good stress management skills;Basic knowledge on main protection issues in the area;Fluently spoken Portuguese;
Other languages: preferably other local languages Sena Ndau.
