Organizational ContextThe International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC or “the Federation”) is the World’s largest volunteer-based humanitarian network. The Federation is a membership organization established by and comprised of its member National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Along with National Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Federation is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The Federation is served by a Secretariat based in Geneva, with regional and country offices throughout the world. The Secretariat is led by the IFRC Secretary General and provides the central capacity of the International Federation to serve, connect, and represent National Societies. The Secretariat’s focus includes providing support to the IFRC governance mechanisms; setting norms and standards; providing guidance; ensuring consistency; coordination and accountability for performance; knowledge sharing; promoting collaboration within and respect for the RCRC Movement; and expanding engagement with partners. The Secretariat’s headquarters is organized in three main business groups: (i) Partnerships, including Movement and Membership; (ii) Programs and Operations; and (iii) Management. The Secretariat has five regional office, as follows: Americas (Panama City); Africa (Nairobi); Asia/Pacific (Kuala Lumpur); Europe (Budapest); Middle East and North Africa (Beirut). This positions are based in Mozambique Provinces such as Manica (Sussundenga) and Tete (Tete and Moatize) to support CVM PSS Program in the implementation of the Skills for life program, psycho-education awareness sessions, PSS training and other activities implemented by the CVM and IFRC GVB Community-based Protection Programme with special focus in Prevention and response to Child marriage with activities related to awareness sessions, behavioral change, training, distributions implemented by the CVM and IFRC in the Communities supporting the PGI project, if needed, in other areas of Manica and Tete.
Job PurposeThe PGI Assistant will support the PGI Officer in all activities related to GVB Community-based Protection Programme with special focus in Prevention and response to Child marriage and other activities implemented by the CVM and IFRC in the Communities and supporting the PGI project ensuring that the PGI standards are met and that all activities promote the dignity, access, participation, and safety of all girls, boys, women and men based on their different needs, capacities and vulnerabilities, and without discrimination based on age, gender, disability, religious, race, or legal status
Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the PGI Officer in the province, she/he will be in charge of the GVB Community-based Protection Programme with special focus in Prevention and response to Child marriage and the WASH/PGI program for people with special needs with the following tasks:
Support the implementation the GVB Community-based Protection Programme with special focus in Prevention and response to Child marriage in all levels following the guidance and strategy established in the programme;The PGI Assistant will perform the following task without being exclusively:Mapping the referral pathway;Responsible of the case management of the cases;Support in the Management of the PSS activities developed by volunteers in the province and;Responsible of the development of the program and supervision of volunteers;Responsible of ensuring the collection of the data of activities on time and keep all means of verification;Constantly assess necessities for PGI program;Requisite materials following the IFRC/CVM procedure;Responsible of coordinating and maintaining a good relationship with the community and its leaders;Support and Provide awareness sessions and behavioural change regarding to the Programme referred;Engage the target population in the activities established in the Programme and work closely with CEA teams on that;Engage the target population in the activities established in the Programme and work closely with CEA teams on that;Referred and manage protection cases;Collect data and distribute items for the programme and prepare and execute the Post distribution monitoring.Report and Monitor the activities as it is established in the M&E plan;Prepare and supervise the materials for the training;Design and implement PGI activities in each location;Communicate with PGI Officer, CVM PSS technique, volunteer managers, CVM, logistics on problems and challenges;Support Organize and provide trainings on PGI, protection and SGBV and PSS topics;Liaise with CVM PSS team and the MHPSS specialised services in health centre and support the PSS technique the activities related to PSS in relation with the PGI programme;Coordinate internally with CVM and IFRC sectors and externally with other actors in the area of work.Actively work towards the achievement of the Federation Secretariat’s and CVM’s goals;Abide by and work in accordance with the Red Cross and Red Crescent principles;Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager.
EducationUniversity degree;Training on Gender and GVB;Training on Child Protection;Disabilities course;IFRC course on PSS;IFRC course on PSS ToT.
ExperienceWorking or volunteering experience with CVM and / or IFRC;3 years of working experience in the same subjects or cooperation projects in GVB, Child protection or related;Leadership experience;In-country contextual understanding and operational experience;Experience in providing training;First-hand experience with logistics in distributions and collecting data;First-hand experience with PSS activities.Knowledge, skills and languagesGood communication skills;Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;Good stress management skills;Basic knowledge on main protection issues in the area;Fluently spoken Portuguese;Other languages: preferably other local languages in Sofala, Manica and Tete.
