Description de l’offre Consultant – for Geospatial/Econometric Analysis Position Search Location(s) Senegal – Dakar, South Africa – any location Position Code2020-003-015 Application Deadline International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), under its research project Family Farming, Regional Markets and Cross border Trade corridors (FARM-TRAC) in the Sahel that is funded by IFAD. The objectives of this project are: (i) the collection of data on regional trade in agricultural and food products along the main trade corridors of the West African region; (ii) the collection of data on road harassment and checkpoints organized by the gendarmerie, police and customs along these trade corridors; (iii) the geographical extension (West and East basins) of the collection of data on trade and their integration into official databases of the national statistical institutes and the ECOWAS; (iv) a complete documentation of these data; the data will be freely and publicly accessible; (v) the setup of an electronic platform to monitor the movement of agricultural and food products along trade corridors in order to increase communication and information for sellers and buyers in the region on prices and quantities available per market place; (vi) an economic analysis conducted to identify the main bottlenecks in rural households’ access to agricultural and food products by country and to assess the impact of red tape (road harassements) and of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) on trade and agricultural production, and food security in the region; (vii) an important advocacy activity to improve the national and regional dialogue on the free movement of merchandises in the region, the impact of road harassement and of poor transport infrastructure, and of the African Continental Free Trade Area. IFPRI is seeking a qualified consultant to conduct spatial and econometric productivity analysis between December 2020 and March 2021. The consultant will prepare household survey and GIS datasets, estimate stochastic frontier analysis models, and extrapolate farm level results to the regional level and map them in ArcGIS. Scope of work • Clean and prepare household survey data on agricultural production. • Prepare GIS data for matching with household survey data. • Estimate stochastic frontier analysis models on Stata. • Extrapolate farm level results from the stochastic frontier analysis and produce maps in ArcGIS. Required qualifications of the consultant / survey team leader • Master’s degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Development Economics, or related field. • Minimum of 3 years of experience in these fields. • Proficiency in Stata and ArcGIS. • Experience in household survey data analysis and econometric productivity analysis (stochastic frontier analysis). Preferred qualifications • Basic reading comprehension in French. | |
