DESCRIPTION

Full time teacher of IB diploma programme English A Literature and Diploma Programme Coordinator for grades 12 and 13 from Sept 2017.

The school is a rigorously academic, independent bi-lingual (Fr/Eng) secondary school in Dakar. Most of the students are Senegalese. Students graduate with the International Bacclaureate (IB) bilingual diploma and obtain places in universities overseas. Students do social service work in the community outside the school.

Free accommodation in small furnished apartments is provided.

Preference is given for candidates with a major first degree in English literature or literary analysis. Ideal candidates will possess an excellent work ethic; strong communication and organizational skills; patience and a good sense of humour; strong classroom management skills; some experience teaching diverse students. Beginning teachers are welcome to apply.

Successful candidates will be creative, models of openness towards other cultures, responsive to new ideas and practices,

Familiarity with the developing world would be an advantage but is not essential. We are looking for candidates able to commit to at least two years.

Knowledge of French is desirable for this post.

Candidates with large, visible tattoos or rings pierced into the nose, tongue, chin, etc need not apply.
