CONTEXT:
You will be joining the Armed Violence Reduction (AVR) Division (21 staff): HQ Specialists, Policy & Development Manager, AVR policy Lead, Innovation Project manager, IM Officer, AVR Officer, Interns.
Under the management of AVR Policy & Development Manager, you will liaise and support the AVR and field teams to successfully communicate on AVR Programming. You supervise the production of all relevant promotion material and event contributing to the development of AVR visibility and notoriety.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibility 1: Lead the design, development and rolling out of the AVR institutional communication activities planning.
- Identify strategic communications opportunities in concert with the AVR team;
- Identify cost-effective channels of communication for targeted audience;
- Identify and plan AVR team communications needs and AVR-led programmes (communication plans);
- Lead the planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of institutional communications activities, for the Odyssey 2025 project in particular.
Responsibility 2: Support the visualisation and lay-out of AVR project outputs and events, with a focus on the Odyssey 2025 project’s development and results.
- Create summary documents or visual presentations of key AVR projects that can be shared with internal and external stakeholders;
- Collect photographic material from AVR programmes;
- Lead the development of compelling content in various formats — text, photo, video, graphics, press releases, articles, reports etc. — to promote projects’ visibility for multiple audiences, including social media, websites, presentation, etc;
- Support AVR country programme teams in the development of materials presented to external and internal audiences;
- Translating technical and scientific project content into lay language;
- Identify opportunities for storytelling and/or positive impact stories in collaboration with AVR teams and programmes;
- Coordinate and oversee the work of freelance writers, videographers and other providers when necessary;
- Managing communications for projects events.
Responsibility 3: Internal & External institutional communication.
- Ensure the timely and effective implementation of external communications efforts, which seek to audiences to know HI AVR work;
- Monitor all forms of (social) media for opportunities for HI to increase its visibility, advise management on new developments that maybe appropriate;
- Manage the AVR team social media communications by posting regular updates of new materials and writing articles about institution activities and events;
- Create and produce internal newsletters for the AVR team;
- Contribute to HI external communication strategy by feeding regularly the Communication Department with updates on projects, a flash news, pictures, articles on projects progress and/or specific events;
- Assist the AVR team and AVR programmes in responding to communication requests;
- Feeding the HInside space;
- Contribute to HI global newsletters, social media channels and annual reporting.
ACCESSIBILITY OF THE POSITION:
Based in Lyon, the position is located in Open Space, boxes are available for more quiet if necessary and the work space is very bright. The position is easily accessible by public transport (bus, metro). A parking lot is also available.
Concerning the building, elevators and access ramps are available.

DESIRED PROFILE:
- You hold a university degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism or any other relevant fields;
- You have minimum 2 years’ experience in related field;
- Proven experience in designing and rolling out a communication product (such as documentary) from A to Z;
- Experience in creation of visualisation of information and data (such as infographics);
- Strong interest for the non-profit sector and innovation;
- Ability to find positive impact storytelling/stories and portraying the beneficiaries with dignity;
- Work in a team / network, cooperate. Respect the opinions and value the skills of each one in view of a joint action;
- Strong, confident command of both written and oral professional English and French;
- Ability to speak and write in other languages (Arabic, Spanish) at an advanced level is an advantage.
