CONTEXT:
You will be joining the Armed Violence Reduction (AVR) Division (21 staff): HQ Specialists, Policy & Development Manager, AVR policy Lead, Innovation Project manager, IM Officer, AVR Officer, Interns.
Under the management of AVR Policy & Development Manager, you contribute to the development of project proposals in line with HI’s global, AVR and programme strategies, and ensures proper grant management, including timely reporting of project achievements to donors. You facilitate internal communication and coordination with relevant stakeholders and contributes to HI AVR external communication strategy.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibility 1: Fundraising &Proposal development.
- Identify funding opportunities or recommend AVR’s positioning on identified opportunities;
- Participate actively to kick off meetings;
- Contribute to the identification of potential relevant partners (private sector partners, national and international NGOs, think tanks, academia, etc.) to be included in proposals;
- Responsible for the process of developing AVR-led projects and tenders;
- Contribute to the development of fundraising documents (be it expression of Interests/ Concept Notes/ Proposals/ tenders) in line with HI AVR technical strategy, programme’s operational strategy and donor requirements;
- Liaise with programmes teams and AVR Technical Specialists to ensure that proposals are relevant and technically sound;
- Integrate learning from previous interventions (e.g. lessons learnt and best practices) into new proposals;
- Maintain active and regular working relationships with donors and keep an active watch on donor strategies;
- Develop or maintain relevant AVR internal resources, tools and filing up to date.
Responsibility 2: Grant follow up & reporting.
- Organise kick-off and close out meetings for AVR-led projects;
- Coordinate the reporting process of AVR-led projects;
- Write quality narrative reports, reflecting the progress and status of projects in a transparent, timely and professional manner, in liaison with the AVR team, Programme teams, partners and the finance department;
- Support audits and evaluation of AVR-led projects;
- Translate AVR-led programmes into communication materials (internal and external).
Responsibility 3: Develop internal capacities.
- Support the animation of the AVR Influence Community of Practice related to field of expertise;
- Develop learning materials and provide trainings to field teams for a successful AVR project development;
- Identify the needs regarding training, write content for training and give trainings.
Responsibility 4: Support the implementation and visibility of the HI AVR technical strategy and programmes.
- Promote the technical expertise of HI throughout relevant networks;
- Translate the AVR strategy into external resources (factsheet, concept notes);
- Contribute to communication messages and publications in line with the global communication priorities;
- Contribute to advocacy activities on specific themes in line with the global advocacy priorities;
- Contribute to HI AVR external communication strategy by feeding regularly the Communication Department with informal updates on projects, a flash news, pictures, articles on projects progress and/or specific events;
- Contribute to HI AVR newsletters, social media channels and annual Reporting.
ACCESSIBILITY OF THE POSITION
Based in Lyon, the position is located in Open Space, boxes are available for more quiet if necessary and the work space is very bright. The position is easily accessible by public transport (bus, metro). A parking lot is also available.
Concerning the building, elevators and access ramps are available.

Expériences / Formation
DESIRED PROFILE:
- You hold an advanced university degree or equivalent in international law, human rights, international relations, humanitarian aid, political science, gender studies or related field is required;
- You have minimum 2 years of relevant experience in project design, proposal writing, budget development, and reports;
- You have experience in working in the nonprofit sector;
- Knowledge in Armed Violence Reduction would be an added value;
- Excellent reporting, especially in written and oral English and French;
- Ability to design projects and write successful proposals for a broad range of institutional donors requiring technical and operational detail;
- Work in a team / network, cooperate. Respect the opinions and value the skills of each one in view of a joint action;
- Strong, confident command of both written and oral professional English and French. Ability to speak and write in other languages (Arabic, Spanish) at an advanced level is an advantage.
