HIVR4P Journalist Fellowship 2018

HIVR4P Journalist Fellowship 2018 (Full Scholarship to HIV Research for Prevention Conference in Madrid, Spain)

Deadline: May 21, 2018

The HIV Research for Prevention (HIVR4P 2018, Madrid 21-25 October) will provide fellowships to attend and cover the conference to approximately 25 journalists from around the world. The journalist fellowship program is designed to help build journalist capacity to report on biomedical HIV prevention, and to generate high-profile media coverage of advances and challenges in prevention research, especially in communities that are heavily impacted by the epidemic.

As part of the fellowship, journalists will participate in a day and a half onsite workshop with leaders in various fields of biomedical prevention research, designed to help them better understand and report on research developments from the conference. HIVR4P2018 Journalist Fellowships provide qualified journalists with a full scholarship to the Conference including travel and hotel, and a pre-conference training on HIV prevention science.

The journalist fellowship program began at the 2009 AIDS Vaccine program and has become a central part of the global effort to encourage informed, effective media coverage of HIV, and support the journalists and news organizations that make that reporting possible. Fellows for HIVR4P 2016 represented an outstanding group of journalists from Brazil, China, Cuba, France, India, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda, the United Kingdom, the United States, Vietnam, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
