CONTEXT:

Violence based on disability, gender and age (DGA) is a widespread and life-threatening issue. One in 3 women will experience physical or sexual violence during her lifetime. The risk of violence to children with disabilities is 3 to 4 times higher than that to children without disabilities. Violence is a reality in every context, but it is exacerbated during and after emergencies, where economic and social structures, essential services and protection mechanisms fail. It has significant and long-lasting impacts on the health, development and well-being of survivors and their families.

The HQ Protection Specialist position we are seeking is meant to ensure that HI’s response is designed and implemented to respond to the protection needs of the targeted population. A central function of the HQ Protection Specialist is to provide technical guidance for successful implementation of DGA based violence prevention and response activities of HI response.

OBJECTIVES : 

Responsibility 1: You provide technical guidance and support to country-based HI teams in the development, implementation and quality control of projects aimed at addressing violence

-You provide technical guidance on all issues related to, DGA based violence, protection mainstreaming and the preventions of sexual exploitation and abuse throughout project cycle.

-You ensure that tools and approaches used by field programs are in line with International standards (CPMS, IASC GBV, CM guidelines, IASC Disability etc..) and HI’ organizational strategies and Policies such as : Protection STRATECH & Policy Paper), DGA (disability gender and age) policy, PSEAH (prevention against sexual exploitation abuse and harassment) and child protection policy.

-You contribute to the development of inclusive IEC materials for the dissemination of information on protection issues and services available through the project

-You liaise with other specialist ensuring protection components are safely integrated within other activities/sector of  project;

-You support (rapid) gender analysis, project risk analysis and protection needs assessment

Support the development of concept note and new project proposals on protection against violence based on DGA.

-You ensure technical support to projects teams when gap of expertise on the field.

Responsibility 2: You contribute to the strenghen human resources within HI in your area of expertise

-You increase the capacity of HQ/field staff to understand protection principles and best practices, prevention of Disability/Gender/Age based violence and abuse, other crosscutting issues and appropriate humanitarian interventions.

-You deliver and contributing to protection training.

-You contribute to identification, recruitement and appraisal of qualified national and international human resources within its area of expertise.

-You ensure a regular follow-up and remote support to technical ressources on the field (protection specialist or technical officer for instance)

Expériences / Formation

  • You hold a master degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Gender, Social work, Disability studies or other relevant field of study
  • You have at least 3 years of professional experience in implementation of protection projects in development or emergency context
  • You have a solid experience in implementation of protection projects (put in practice protection mainstreaming principals, GBV and Child Protection integrated approach)
  • You have good understanding of approaches such as disability inclusion, intersectionality, community based and gender transformative approaches
  • You master representation and networking
  • You are autonomous, results’ oriented with an effective time management
  • You show ability to be in support/coaching professional
  • You speak English and French

Salaire

  • Type of contract : CDD – 5 months
  • Additional benefits: luncheon vouchers and health insurance
  • Working hours depending on job location
  • 5 weeks of annual leave
