Grant Competition for Development Cooperation Projects – Latvia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is launching a grant project competition, “Support for development cooperation in recipient countries designated by the Republic of Latvia” for 2024.

The aim of the competition is to support the implementation of development cooperation projects in developing countries in order to promote their social and economic development.

In accordance with the Development Cooperation Policy Guidelines for 2024–2027, the main priority of the competition is support for projects in the European Union’s (EU) Eastern Partnership countries – Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova – and Central Asian countries – Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan – as well as support for the Belarusian civil society and African countries.

The thematic priorities of the competition have been set for each region, and they are based on interests expressed by the countries. Support will be granted in the following areas: development and capacity building of public administration, democratic participation, business development, gender equality, the mitigation of climate change, the fight against disinformation, and digitalisation.

Funding Information

  • The total annual funding made available for the projects is EUR 791 108.50. A single development cooperation project can receive from EUR 40,000 to EUR 100,000 per year.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Direct and indirect public administration institutions of the Republic of Latvia, derived public entities, other state institutions, as well as associations, foundations, merchants, trade unions and other entities registered in the Republic of Latvia can apply for the competition. The project applicant must have at least one cooperation partner in the partner country.
