GGGI hiring Senior Project Assistant – Local Coordination.

Job description
Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Senior Project Assistant will be responsible for the timely and quality day-to-day coordination and implementation of the project in the field, working closely with beneficiaries, project implementation partners, local government, and other key stakeholders.

GGGI has been working in Senegal since 2016.
The Country program has expanded rapidly in the areas of climate change, green cities and green investment mobilization.
On December 8 2020, GGGI signed a grant agreement with the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), for a multi-year project titled “Solar-Powered Irrigation for Climate-Smart Agriculture in the Senegal River Valley”. The project aims to Contribute to reducing poverty and GHG emissions and improving livelihoods of rice farmers, particularly women and youth, through sustainable agricultural production and increased productivity.
To support the implementation of the Project in partnership with SAED, GGGI Sénégal is seeking to hire a dynamic and highly motivated Senior Project Assistant – Local Coordination.

Purpose :
– Provide on the ground support to Project Manager in the coordination and implementation of projects.
– Generate and maintain an up-to-date project data repository on the project, work stream activities, and budget expenditure to ensure efficiency and consistency with established workplans for overall project management support.
– Provides general support to the program activities where necessary.
– Updates the Country Team, and/or Program Unit on project status and up to date data repository and document archives, asset inventory, and stakeholder contacts;
– Support project activities with the preparation for, organizing of, or processing of, meetings, workshops, trainings, field missions, studies and other works.

Engagement :
– Provide effective coordination and communication among the GGGI project team and with key stakeholder to ensure smooth implementation including regular coordination with SAED, FPA, Research Institutes, NGOs, and representatives of beneficiairies.
– Recommend solutions and resolve operational issues which impact consistent delivery of project activities;
– Support all logistics procedures and requirements for external partners who participate in GGGI workshops and meetings.
– Prepare capacity building materials and support delivery of knowledge sharing workshops both internally and externally

Delivery :
– Provides logistical arrangements in respect to workshops and meetings in-line with GGGI Policies, Rules and Regulations.
– Supports in identifying relevant information related to policy-driven issues, synthesis of best practices and lessons-learned directly linked to project goals through research assistance.
– Organize relevant meetings, focus group discussions, workshops, and trainings with key stakeholders.
– Leads the facilitation of events, acting as a resource person for surveys, workshops or other project activities in the field.
– Prepares communication material in collaboration with the Communications Assistant for wider dissemination.
– Supports preparation of project reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
– Provides research assistance to the project team on policies, project development, and market development in the region.
– Other tasks as required by the Project Director or the Project Manager.

Job requirements :
Qualifications :

– Minimum Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (environmental studies, agriculture, climate and sustainable development, energy or any discipline related to the assignment).
– Preferably more than 3 years of relevant experience working in agriculture and rural development.
– Experience in organizing field activities such as trainings, agriculture/social extension, community development activities.
– Experience of project management, coordination procedures. administrative systems, M&E systems and finance processes.
– Experience with rice farming in the Senegal River Valley would be desirable.
– Experience in the field of solar-powered irrigation system management in Senegal is an advantage.
– Working knowledge and experience of women empowerment and community development is an advantage.
– Fluency in spoken and written English, and in local language.
– Literacy in the use of standard software programs: Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Functional :
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required to convey messages that are easy to understand about solar irrigation and climate-smart agriculture.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision and to operate effectively in a team environment.
Good in synthesizing information data and reports writing.
Willingness and ability to travel domestically.
Familiarity with the green growth and climate resilience would be an advantage.
