Funding Call for Improving Skills & Competences in Marine and Maritime Themes through Education & Training – Portugal

EEA Grants in Portugal has announced a call for proposals for Improving the skills and competences in marine and maritime themes through education and training.

The main objective of this Call is to improve skills and competences in marine and maritime themes through education and training. This ranges from elementary school to university level and also includes professional degrees. It will support new courses in maritime affairs, professional internship programmes for SMEs, multidisciplinary postgraduate programmes, summer schools, intensive programmes, training courses, mobility of students/trainees, teachers exchange and scholarships.

The projects supported by this Call will contribute to several outcomes.
They have to contribute to the Outcome Education, training and cooperation in marine and maritime issues enhanced. The targets to be reached under the Programme are:
50 ECTS credits received by the students in the Mobility projects;
12 joint intellectual outputs created in cooperation projects (studies, curricula, teaching materials, conference papers, etc.);
120 participants who self-declare improved skills and competencies after the courses.
This outcome will be achieved through “Education and training on marine and maritime subjects provided in schools” which aims to achieve:
23 apprentices supported;
8 schools, including professional schools/training centres (VETs), supported to provide education and training on marine and maritime subjects;
6 students from Portugal in exchanges;
2 students from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway in exchanges;
6 teachers/professors/administrative/technical staff from Portugal in exchanges;
2 teachers/professors/administrative/technical staff from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway in exchanges.

Funding Information

The total amount available in the present Call is € 1.550.000.
Maximum Grant Amount for each project: 250.000€
Minimum Grant Amount for each project: 200.000€
Eligibility Criteria

Eligible Promoters:
Any public or private entity, commercial or non-commercial and non-governmental organisations, established as legal persons in Portugal are considered eligible project promoters. Natural persons are not eligible.
Each promoter may submit only one application. Submission of applications by different entities with a common Tax Identification Number (TIN) (Ex: Faculties, institutes or research centers using the University’s unique TIN) will be taken into account since their independence can be guaranted, trought the consulting the statutes of these entities.
Eligible Partners:
Any public or private entity, commercial or non-commercial, as well as non-governmental organizations established as a legal person either in the donor states or in Portugal, as well as VET-institutions in Switzerland, with a specific cooperation agreement with Liechtenstein, and Swiss universities regarding students of Liechtenstein nationality.
