Organizational Setting
 The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist Governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food and nutrition security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.
The FAO Representation in South Sudan current programmes portfolios includes activities related to Sustainable Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Security, Food Systems, Emergency and Resilience, Poverty Reduction and Innovation in Agriculture Systems. The incumbent will contribute to the country’s Programme team.
Reporting Lines
The incumbent will work under the day-to-day supervision of the Co-ordinator of the Food and Nutrition Security Programme, collaborate with the Programme team and Heads of Field Offices, and consult with the relevant Technical Units at FAO headquarters, RAF and SFE, and the Lead Technical Officer and close collaboration with relevant Ministries of the Government of South Sudan.
Technical Focus
The incumbent will be responsible for policy review, technical and statistical analysis and development of tools, methodologies, frameworks and/or databases related to nutrition; nutrition project and programme design, planning, delivery and monitoring/evaluation; and nutrition mainstreaming in FAO South Sudan’s programme.
Tasks and responsibilities
 Design and conduct analyses to support the development and management of nutrition related programmes/projects as well as publications/technical reports;
Provide technical and operational support throughout all stages of FAO South Sudan programming processes to support the planning, implementation/delivery and monitoring of the nutrition-sensitive projects and programmes;
Plan and provide effective leadership for the project management, technical implementation and achievement of results related to FAO South Sudan nutrition portfolio;
Support nutrition capacity development and knowledge sharing activities through the development of training tools and materials and facilitation and follow-up of meetings, consultations and workshops/seminars;
Conduct regular programme field visits and surveys, and exchange information with partners and stakeholders to assess progress and provide technical support for nutrition-related emergency programming ;
Respond to requests and provide technical and operational support to government counterparts, UN system partners, and other FAO’s country office partners/donors on nutrition sensitive food systems processes, frameworks and best practices in order to support programme implementation, operations and delivery of results;
Participate in resource mobilization activities in accordance with Corporate strategy and departmental plans;
Perform any other related duties as required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
 An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in one of the following fields: nutrition, food sciences, global/international development, health sciences, or a related field.
Five years of relevant experience in developing and managing nutrition related programmes and projects.
Working knowledge of English.

Extensive knowledge of the nutrition sector in South Sudan and experience in working with partners to implement nutrition programmes in various field locations in South Sudan;
Capacity to analyse nutrition data and produce high quality nutrition assessment and monitoring reports;
Ability to conduct SMART surveys will be an added advantage.
Ability to plan and prioritize work with minimal supervision.
