Organizational Setting
The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO representatives, is to assistant governments to  develop policies , programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.
The FAO Representation in South Sudan is organizes in three main units: programme, Operations and administration. The current portfolio of projects in South Sudan includes activities related to agriculture (crop), livestock, Fisheries, Natural Resource management, food information systems is implemented with humanitarian, transitional and development funding. The incumbent will contribute to the country’s programme and portfolio as foreseen in the project he/she will coordinate and be assigned.
Reporting Lines
Reports to the Field Security Officer (FSO).
Technical Focus
• Security management
• Increase awareness and security management skills amongst FAO Staff
Tasks and responsibilities
• Conduct a continuous assessment of the security situation in Juba and South Sudan and report developments impacting FAO staff and /or operations to the Field security Officer (FSO)
• Produce the daily staff positioning with FSO as per the security clearances.
• Establish working contacts and liaison capacities with national security.
• Supervise and liaise with the roving national field security associate.
• Assist FSO in ensuring FAO compliance with UNSMS
• Supervise Security guards at office and warehouses.
• Assist FSO in ensuring that FAO staff participate regularly at UN Security trainings.
• Assist FSO in the management of security equipment.
• Under the supervision of FSO initiate and follow up on procurement of security equipment to ensure FAO compliance and “duty of care” to staff.
• Perform any other tasks as requested by FSO.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
 • A degree in a field related to the work of the Organization.
• 5  years of relevant experience in Security management
• Working knowledge of English and knowledge of local Arabic would be an asset.
