Organizational Setting
Recruitment for this position is done on a local basis, whether or not the candidate is a resident of the duty station. This incumbent will be hired as a National Project Personnel (NPP) for a minimum period of two (2) to twelve (12) months and extension of contract is subject to extension of the mandate and availability of funds. Staff members are subject to the authority of the FAO Representative and to assignment by him/her; in this context staffs are expected to periodically move to a new location in accordance with established rules and procedures.
Reporting Lines
The Driver/mechanic is responsible for driving the country office staff of FAO Representations. He/she ensures the safety, technical soundness and comfort of the vehicle(s) assigned. The incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Transport Coordinator and performs the following duties:
Technical Focus
Keeping the vehicle clean all the time.
Keeping and maintained the tools inside the vehicle.
Make sure that all the passenger have their seat belts worn.
Repair miner things in case there is no mechanic nearby.
Report the issues relate to the repair of vehicle to direct supervisor on time.
Do other duties assigned by the supervisor as well.
Tasks and responsibilities
 Drive the country office staff and their official visitors on official trips, as well as the FAO Representative and his/her visitors on occasions as and when required;
Meet staff and official visitors at the airport; facilitate immigration and custom formalities, hotel check-in, and other local procedures;
Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, and expenditures related to transportation/vehicles, vehicle servicing, and repairs;
Ensure day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle(s); checks oil, water, battery, tires, and performs minor repairs and arrange for any other repairs necessary to keep the vehicle safe and technically sound at all times in timely manner; maintain the vehicle(s) in a clean condition;
Handle local and organizational formalities when involved in an accident; ensure that in this case all organizational and national rules, regulations and procedures are followed correctly;
Collect and deliver mail, documents, pouches, and other communications/items to and from the country office; airport, government agencies, other UN agencies, institutions, project sites, etc., to take and deliver items and communications and keeps records as required;
Undertake the routine maintenance and repair of vehicles and mechanical equipment as necessary;
Diagnose vehicle and equipment faults and repairs as necessary;
Accurately record all work done and parts used in the format provided by the Logistics Office in Juba;
Specifically, carry out routine check and preventative maintenance as per the manufacturer’s schedule;
Perform other related duties as required.
Inspect vehicle and Generator engines and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately
Inspect vehicle & Generator electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade.
Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.) aiming to vehicle & Generator functionality and longevity
Mechanic Roles
Service, maintain and repair all types of FAO light vehicles and plant equipment (generators) in a safe, efficient and economical manner: deploying requisite skills and expertise. Working to the highest standards without close supervision to achieve an acceptable level of work throughout whist maintaining quality standards at all times.
Examine, inspect and report thoroughly on the condition, roadworthiness or safety of any vehicle or equipment, including functional testing and the application of computerized Service & Diagnostic techniques.
Be responsible for efficient routine and ad hoc maintenance and repair of FAO vehicles and other means of transport or equipment following manufacturer’s standards and in compliance with established schedules and FAO safety procedures.
Recover and repair broken down or immobilized vehicles and equipment, utilizing proper techniques to minimize the risk of additional damage without causing any danger to the public.
Support, Install and maintain sophisticated equipment in FAO vehicles such as VHS, radios, satellite tracking systems, etc., to support enhanced and/or updated communication tools and their efficient functioning.
Keep in a good order all repair tools and equipment, to support safe, healthy and clean working environment.
Assist others Drivers on technical skills to build their capacity & creating good team building
Use safe working practices and procedures at all times and in particular to comply with the Organization’s health and safety at work policy including the wearing of protective clothing and consideration for the environment.

Minimum Requirements
Completed secondary education (high school diploma or equivalent).
Be in Possession of valid driver’s license.
