Poste proposé : Drill and Blast Engineer

Reporting to the Senior Drill and Blast Engineer, The Drill and Blast Engineer is responsible for:

Accountable for Drill and Blast designs and associated evaluation and feedback systems, with the aim to balance the competing needs of
Safe & efficient blasting including improvement of geotechnical conditions.
Diggability and Fragmentation; Powder Factor.
Heave and movement of material (i.e., minimizing ore dilution).
Plays a pivotal role in coordinating between the production personnel, D&B team, explosives contractor and geologists to ensure the above is achieved
Championing the operational quality control and primary responsible for the Mine to Mill Drill and Blast optimization.
To achieve the above objectives with due consideration to the environment, statutory obligations and the efficient management of the company’s assets and human resources.

Responsabilities:

Produce accurate Drill & Blast designs in a timely manner, as defined by the monthly rolling forecasts and weekly plans provided by the short-range planners.
Ensure the Bench Blast Masters are produced in a timely manner with due consideration to achieving safe & efficient blasting and subsequent mining activities.
Play a pivotal role in steering the day-to-day planning of the mining activities – liaising with various sections/departments on deliverables, inputs, and stakeholder needs associated with the Drill and Blast function.
Supporting the mine scheduling and design functions to ensure safe and cost-effective mining operation.
Prepare, monitor, and update all production data associated with drilling and blasting activities, including Drill & Blast required input for the forecasting and budgeting processes.
Consult and develop a close working relationship with the Geotechnical staff in order to optimize slope performance and ensure pit wall stability.
Ensure timely post blast assessments, analysis on fragmentation, Diggability and wall conformance are performed.
Champion the operational quality control by ensuring holes are drilled to engineering planned depth, location, and are charged and fired to achieve the desired blast result.
Review the QAQC data, digging rates, and blast videos to determine areas of further improvement.

Profil recherché pour le poste : Drill and Blast Engineer

Requirements

Mining Engineering degree
Minimum of (02) years’ experience in an operating open pit mine.
Drill and Blast design and planning experience
Strong communication skills, ability to speak and write in English
Strong interpersonnel skills
Ability to liaise and promote liaison between maintenance, mining and contracting personnel
Valid Driving License
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Ponctuel
Neat/tidy paperwork
Maintenance of safe working environment practices
Ability to think laterally
Willingness to learn
Resilience and resourcefulness
High level of computer skills and knowledge of MS Office Suite, CAD software, etc.…
