Embassy of Canada in Vietnam: Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) 2018-2019

Deadline: 11 June 2018

The Embassy of Canada in Vietnam has announced a call for proposals for Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) to seek small-scale, targeted local projects that contribute to the achievement of Canada’s priorities for international assistance.

The CFLI supports small-scale but high-impact projects in developing countries, which align with the Government of Canada’s international assistance.  The program is directed at projects conceived and designed predominantly by local partners.  The majority of funding will be directed toward local civil society organizations and other institutions working at the local level.

Themes

  • Gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
  • Inclusive governance, including diversity, democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
  • Environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, as well as on water management.

Funding Information

  • The typical contribution is expected to be in the range of CAD $15,000-$35,000 for each individual project.
  • Larger projects may be considered on an exceptional basis, with appropriate justification for use of funds.

Project Duration

All project activities must be completed between the date of signature of the contribution agreement and February 28, 2019.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Local non-governmental, community and not-for-profit organizations;
  • Local academic institution working on local projects;
  • Municipal, regional or national government institutions or agencies of Vietnam working on local projects with local partners; and
  • Canadian non-governmental and not-for-profit organizations that are working on local development activities.
