The Embassy of Canada in Myanmar is seeking project applications for its Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) program 2018-2019 to support small results-oriented projects which are proposed and implemented by civil society in Myanmar.

CFLI is a responsive and flexible program which enables Canada to respond to local needs by working at the community level. The project must support the CFLI thematic priorities. Applications will be evaluated based on links to priorities, technical merit and cost-effectiveness.

Priorities

Projects must fall within one of the following priorities:

  • Inclusive governance, including diversity, democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
  • Peace and security, with a focus on conflict prevention and building peace.

Funding Information

  • The average contribution is Canadian $25,000-$50,000.
  • All projects must be completed between the date of signature of the Contribution Agreement and 31January 2019.

Cross-Cutting Themes

All projects should address the following considerations:

  • Gender Equality: All projects should ensure participation of female and male beneficiaries, as appropriate, and should aim to address gender inequalities in targeted communities.
  • Environmental Protection: All proposals should include an analysis of the potential environmental risks and opportunities, including a description of the measures that will be taken to mitigate adverse effects and enhance environmental benefits.
  • Sustainability: All projects should include plans for building local capacity and for maintaining project results following the completion of project activities.

Eligibility Criteria

  • local non-governmental, community and not-for-profit organizations,
  • local academic institutions working on local projects,
  • international, intergovernmental, multilateral and regional institutions, organizations and agencies working on local development activities,
  • municipal, regional or national government institutions or agencies of the recipient country working on local projects, and
  • Canadian non-governmental and not-for-profit organizations that are working on local development activities.
