A strong, innovative topic is the most important part of the application. Submitted applications must treat global health. Health and the description of health care in developing countries should be placed in the broader context of development cooperation, political stability, migration and international relations.

In addition, links can be made to other topics from the reported countries, such as economic aspects or those of human rights, empowerment of women and girls, climate change, basic sanitation, digitization or innovation.

A clear advantage, but not a mandatory requirement, is to establish a connection with Germany in the reporting. As such, a concrete link could be made to Germany’s global health policy, to a health aspect in German development cooperation, to the health-related activities of government organizations or local NGOs. Commercial or nonprofit medical or pharmaceutical research and activities related to Germany are also a good option.

They strongly support reporting on medically under-represented health issues or new and surprising aspects of known issues.

Topics for France

Particular care should be taken in writing pitch.

  • The proposed reports will have to deal with the subject of health in developing countries. They will be particularly sensitive to treatments of the subject of health related to risks, feedback, possible solutions and/or security issues and cooperation projects related to health.
  • In addition, project may address development-related topics such as the role of health in the political stability of developing countries, health related to economic opportunities and human rights. Applicants pitch may be related to the international aspects of migration, empowerment of women and girls, the consequences of climate change or innovation and digital transformation.

Although not essential, the presence of a concrete link with France in an applicant’s project is an asset. As such, the applicant’s project may be linked to the global health policies of France or to the activities of French governmental organizations in the health sector or NGOs in the field.
