DRC recruits 01 Junior Resilience Delegate (Niger)

Are you a young humanitarian professional looking to develop your career by working directly with partners in-country, to reach populations in need of support?

The Danish Red Cross (DRC) Country Office in Niger is looking for a new colleague with a flair for project management, monitoring, evaluation and learning. The Junior Delegate position contributes to the development and monitoring of the DRC supported project portfolio in Niger, which is implemented in close collaboration with the Niger Red Cross Society (NRC).

DRC has been working in a bilateral partnership with NRC since 2017. Currently, four projects are being implemented in various regions, including Tillabéry, Niamey, Zinder, Diffa and Maradi within the areas of resilience building, sexual and reproductive health, humanitarian/cash support and migration and displacement, through a triple nexus approach. In Niamey and Tillabéry, DRC supports NRC on two projects: Protection, Resilience, Cohesion: Sustainable support and solutions to displaced and host communities in Mali and Niger (PRECO), and Alliance du Mouvement Croix-Rouge pour la protection et l’assistance humanitaire (AMoPAH). In addition, DRC and NRC have developed a new resilience project, that aims to contribute to increase the resilience of internally displaced persons and host communities in Tillabéry and Niamey, at community level and in urban centres. These ongoing projects provide direct assistance to internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities, through humanitarian distributions and cash transfer, provision of protection, health and psychosocial services, and through social cohesion interventions and support to income-generating activities. In addition, capacity-building of NRC staff and volunteers, and reinforcement of NRC branches, is transversal throughout the different projects.

Your tasks

As Junior Resilience Delegate, you will:

  • Support the PRECO, AMoPAH and Resilience teams to ensure DRC and donor guidelines are fully implemented into all aspects of the projects;
  • Support aspects of the projects relating to PMEAL, Reporting, Communication, etc.;
  • Support the development of the communication strategy of the DRC Delegation in Niger, and support delegates to develop communication and visibility materials;
  • Support the day-to-day activities of DRC Niger (logistics, admin, translation, etc.);
  • Contribute to the development of concept notes for donors.

Your profile

We expect that you have relevant education (e.g. international development, political sciences, international relations or similar), and 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience as a minimum. You should be fluent in English and French, both written and spoken. Work/study experience in West Africa or the Sahel is a plus, as is experience with the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement. You have experience in project management and PMEAL. DRC team in Niger seeks a team player, who is results-oriented, has excellent cultural sensitivity, a good sense of humour and is capable of self-management – with support from the team.
