Job description
Key accountabilities
- Develop and implement tax strategies: Develop effective tax strategies aligned with business objectives, considering local tax laws, regulations, and international tax standards.
- Compliance management: Ensure compliance with tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements in Senegal and other relevant jurisdictions. Stay updated with changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the organization.
- Tax planning and optimization: Identify opportunities for tax planning, optimization, and cost savings while ensuring compliance. Provide guidance on the tax implications of business transactions, investments, and projects.
- Transfer pricing: Manage and monitor transfer pricing policies and documentation to ensure compliance and minimize tax risks. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to establish and maintain arm’s length pricing.
- Tax risk management: Identify and assess tax risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Implement internal controls and procedures to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting.
- Tax audits and disputes: Manage tax audits, examinations, and disputes with tax authorities. Coordinate with external advisors and legal counsel, as necessary, to resolve tax-related issues.
- Internal collaboration: Work closely with finance, legal, and other internal departments to provide tax guidance and support on business initiatives, transactions, and contracts.
- External engagement: Establish and maintain relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and tax authorities. Stay informed about industry developments and best practices in taxation.
- Training and education: Conduct training sessions and provide guidance to internal stakeholders to enhance their understanding of tax matters and promote tax compliance across the organization.
- Stay updated: Continuously update knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and accounting standards to ensure compliance and provide accurate advice.
The above outlined responsibilities are not exhaustive, and you may be required to carry out other tasks that are appropriate to your role in addition to these.
Qualifications, experience and skills
- Madter’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field and or Master’s degree or professional tax qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is preferred.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in tax planning, compliance, and advisory roles, preferably in a multinational corporation or reputable tax consultancy firm.
- In-depth knowledge of Senegal’s tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements. Familiarity with international tax principles and transfer pricing guidelines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex tax issues and provide practical solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in tax software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
