Job description

Equipment Availability and Reliability

Ensure equipment availability is achieved as per the targeted KPIs.
Maintain the equipment in accordance with the planned maintenance program.
Manage the crane section activities in a safe way to support equipment reliability and availability.
Plan the spare parts to ensure maximum availability of the equipment, follow up on parts requirements and requisitions
Prepare timely management reports detailing equipment availability and usage, man-hours worked, and resource usage.
Produce plans, drawings, and proposals for improvements to maintenance resources and maintenance methods.
Communicate in an advance maintenance program to the operations department to ensure the maximum availability of quay cranes
Insure economical, efficient, safe, and productive use of the equipment
Work closely with Reliability and planning team to fulfill all needs and do all tasks.
Follow PM execution, compliance, and quality.
Give technical assistance to his team in (long BDNs, serious BDNs, many BDNs, modifications, programming …)
Report to the Head of Engineering any potential matter concerning the equipment – The report should be complete (comprehensible) to include every aspect of the matter
Assist the Head of Engineering in setting up the budget of his department
Participate with purchasing and Inventory department in the monitoring of safety stocks
Ensure good communication with the other departments
Follow closely internal performance reports (KPI) for the crane team and achieve targets
Performing improvement projects for Quay crane and RTG including, Equipment repair and retrofit
Preparing technical specs for tenders, supporting infrastructural works,
Creating procurement plans, contractor management for Quay crane, RTG, MC, Spreaders, OHF, Generators, …
Ensure all executed jobs are carried out through work orders and WOs are closed prior to releasing equipment to operations
Oversee various types of cranes and equipment repair and maintenance that may include Ship-to-Shore cranes, and remote/automated/piloted stacking cranes.
Contract maintenance labor, and ensure ongoing compliance with labor contracts, requirements, and agreements.
Prioritize and coordinate repairs and parts procurement to ensure maintenance teams have the resources, supplies, and tools necessary for daily activities.
Responsible for all other duties as assigned, such as managing the Environmental Management System.
Manage Crane Superintendents and Crane Maintenance Technicians / Mechanics in day-to-day operations. Promote a team-based culture and provide ongoing feedback. Coach team members through issues or escalations. Measure and evaluate the performance of team members. Implement disciplinary actions as needed.
Oversee scheduling and work execution. Prioritize crane maintenance and repair work needs and how cranes are repaired.
Provide required training for staff to take them to next level by himself and by arranging with HR training team.
Order repairs, ranging from simple to very complex, based on best-known industry standards and according to the manufacturer’s recommendations and requirements.
Follow up pickups situations, Team TBT.
Interfacing the computerized crane management system CMMS.
Familiar with Maximo /preferable
High leadership skills

Financial Responsibilities

Prepare an annual technical budget for equipment inside cranes section.
Provide input to specification for procurement of new equipment.
Ensure economic, efficient, and productive utilization of crane workshop facilities.
Manage adherence to the crane maintenance budget. Minimize operating costs by eliminating redundancies, refining processes, optimizing utilization of resources, reliable equipments and subcomponents, effective troubleshooting, parts repair and maintaining high productivity levels.

People Development

Control manpower utilization and set and maintain performance criteria for maintenance staff.
Evaluate and develop maintenance staff, to ensure that the necessary technical expertise and skills are available to maintain the DP World DAKAR equipment.
Identify and develop training needs for the crane team, review, and update
Develop and implement training programs on preventative and corrective maintenance methods.
Assess staffing levels to ensure an adequate number of workers are available and scheduled to fulfil maintenance and repair needs.

Innovation

Promote innovation by improving equipment performance and safety.
Adding new features based on business needs
Remote monitoring for better maintenance planning

LEAN and 5S

Promote LEAN culture
Promote KAIZENS
Improve processes inside section.
Follow 5S for equipments, workplace and all areas under responsibilities.
Apply and promote all LEAN tools and visual management.
Work closely with LEAN department and provide all supports needed

Health, Safety, and Environment

Ensure that the maintenance team works in conformity to DP World Safety and Environment Policy, standards, and procedures, provide input to incident reports and corrective actions.
Promote safety awareness within the department and ensure compliance with all safety procedures, policies, and regulations, as well as OSHA guidelines. Including properly addressing issues through action or reporting issues and concerns to the Manager
Set up HSSE plans regarding your entity and Integrate HSSE objectives in maintenance objectives
Enforce orders, procedures, and HSSE instructions to people under your responsibility
Make write, approve, and control operational procedures and HSSE instructions in your section and shift
Drive or participate in reporting and analysis of incidents if necessary.
Follow LOTO procedures and team.
Ensure from equipments safety functionality.

Job requirements

Related Work Experience Minimum 10 years preferable12 years
Education / Qualifications – Engineering Degree or equivalent preferable Master’s degree or equivalent electrical/control/automation.
Spoken / Written Languages – Advanced English
Experienced with PLC, Inverters, SINAMICS, HMIs, Automation, LCMS, RCMS, Engines, generators, Instruments calibrations, Sicklaser programming, Hydraulic circuits, Mechanical, projects, terminal equipments “STS, RTG, Spreaders, MHC, ZPMC, KC, BROMMA, GOTTWALD
Computer Skills- Computer Literate Experienced in Office Applications, CMMS Preferred “Maximo”
Safety & Environment- Awareness of Safety and Environment Procedures preferable fully conversant with Safety and Environment Best Practices
