The purpose of this NOFO is to promote global health security in Senegal . It will support system strengthening & capacity building activities to detect, prevent, & respond to infectious diseases, outbreaks, PHEICs, or other health threats. Beside prevention which is the best cost effective way to mitigate disease occurrence in any population, detection at early stage is the very first stage in disease containment.

This funding opportunity will serve Senegal, and enable CDC to collaboratively work with Ministries of Health and will facilitate national collaboration toward specific public health protection objectives, including IHR (2005) compliance in the surveillance, laboratory, workforce development and emergency management action packages.

The target populations for this NOFO include, but are not limited to, those individuals, in Senegal, infected and affected by infectious diseases, or at risk for becoming infected by an infectious disease. The target population for this NOFO may also include at-risk population for non-communicable diseases and/or other public health emergencies.
The work under this NOFO may also target increased capacity at the national and sub-national level to implement activities in alignment with the objectives of this NOFO.

Total Period of Performance Funding: $25,000,000;
Average One Year Award Amount: $1,000,000;
Total Period of Performance Length: 5 years.
