The Team’s role in West Africa is to identify barriers and overcome barriers preventing clean energy projects from reaching financial close.
To achieve this, we have developed specialized expertise to provide catalytic investment advisory services to governments and independent power producers.
We focus on the most innovative and complex deal structuring in some of the world’s most challenging markets.
Our pipeline often includes a country’s highest national priority energy projects, often in the form of public-private-partnerships, involving a spectrum of stakeholders.

Job Description
CrossBoundary is recruiting a full-time transaction advisor to support a diverse set of power generation projects in the West Africa region to overcome financing barriers and reach financial close. This is an Associate or Senior Associate-level role with the firm.

Ideal Candidate
French fluency
4+ years of experience at one of the following –
• the project finance team of top-tier investment or commercial bank or specialist advisor
• an asset manager investing in energy or infrastructure
• a clean energy project developer with sizable project portfolio

Experience in, understanding of, and interest in working in African markets, including power procurement and power auction processes, such as IFC’s scaling solar
A critical thinker, current on global events, who is intellectually stimulated to work at the confluence of energy and power, geo-politics, economics and the environment
Experience with development finance institutions, such as IFC, FMO, AfDB, OPIC, etc, is critical
Excellent analytical ability and discipline, ability to think clearly and communicate effectively, solve problems, and a veracious hunger to learn in complex situations

Primary responsibilities
• Support early and late stage (solar, hydro, wind, gas) projects to reach financial close
• Advising power project developers on engagement strategy with government
• Advising on the project’s optimal capital structure and supporting fundraising processes from both private sector investors and development finance institutions
• Building and reviewing bankable project finance models and drafting of investment memorandums
• Identifying financing barriers and thinking creatively to find solutions around them
• Advising on project risk allocation and legal agreements including PPAs, implementation agreements, and O&M contracts
• Market assessment and analysis; including review of integrated resource plans and national renewable energy policies
• Proactively find opportunities to complete work to conserve the time of other team members

West Africa – either Dakar or Accra
