Community Health Alliance Uganda: Request for Applications

Community Health Alliance Uganda (CHAU) has announced a Request for Applications which aimed at soliciting services of Ugandan CSOs/NGOs to accelerate improved SRHR and HIV outcomes for young vulnerable (10 -24 years) and key populations in Uganda.

 

Under this grant, CSOs/NGOs are expected to design impressive, innovative, creative strategies and interventions that can deliver services and information; advocate for comprehensive integrated SRHR and HIV services and information for vulnerable and key populations in accordance with the priorities of the government of Uganda as well as respond to district based disease burdens.

Through this grant, CSOs’ capacity will be enhanced to advocate for an enabling environment at the district and national level, that supports the target population to access quality, inclusive integrated SRHR and HIV services in Uganda.

The Uganda Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Umbrella (SRHR-Umbrella) is a five year program and now in its third year implemented by CHAU, working with IHAA in Brighton, UK through a grant from the Embassy of Sweden in Uganda.

Outcomes

The Uganda SRHR Umbrella program aims to successfully attain the overall goal of this program, through the following measurable outcomes:

  • Outcome 1: Expanded access and increased use of quality, inclusive and integrated SRHR and HIV services among vulnerable and key populations.
  • Outcome 2: Increased adoption of safer sexual practices among vulnerable and key populations.
  • Outcome 3: An enabling SRHR and HIV environment for vulnerable and key populations.
  • Outcome 4: Strengthened institutional capacity of implementing organisations (NGOs/CBOs) to deliver quality and inclusive SRHR and HIV programmes in Uganda.

Target Populations

  • Vulnerable populations who are Adolescents & Young people 10 to 24 years, in and out of school.
  • Key populations (LGBT, SWs, truckers and fishing communities).

Grant Information

The Uganda SRHR Umbrella program is for 3.5 years. The successful recipient will be responsible for ensuring the achievement of the program objectives and the efficient and effective administration of the award through the application of sound management practices.

Eligible Applicants

  • CHAU encourages CSOs/NGOs – private, not-for-profit either faithbased, non-faith based, KP and Youth led NGOs who have worked or never worked with CHAU before to competitively apply.
  • Applicants must have established governance, financial management, monitoring and evaluation processes, internal control systems, and policies and procedures that comply with established laws, standards and regulations of Government of Uganda and the Swedish government.
  • There will be mandatory pre-award assessment to establish a baseline and if, at this point, the pre-award assessment is not in tandem with the applicants established systems, CHAU reserves the right to terminate the award.
  • The requirements include legally registered at least since 2010 and have current registration certificate with at least 5 years’ experience in provision of SRHR and HIV services and advocacy.
  • Applicants are advised that the first criteria is to ensure that the applicant in legally recognized and authorized by the government of Uganda to conduct business in the country.
  • Legal recognition may be through the NGO board, the Companies Act or other binding government of Uganda documents.
  • The documentation of legal status must be provided.
