City of Cape Town announces Grants-in-Aid 2020/21

The City of Cape Town’s Arts and Culture Department is inviting applications for funding from Arts, Culture and Heritage organisations and institutions located within the municipal boundaries of the City of Cape Town.

The City of Cape Town makes grants-in-aid available to organisations to fund projects that benefit the community and assist the City in realising its goals and objectives as set out by the Integrated Development Plan (IDP).
Funding Areas
Organisations should be dedicated to providing various programmes and services through arts, culture and heritage including, among others, the following:

Building audiences in the cultural and creative sectors;
Enabling youth through personal development, skills development and career guidance;
Exposing youth to the cultural and creative sectors;
Increasing opportunities for up-skilling of emerging creative practitioners;
Promoting social inclusion;
Responding to Covid-19 and/or environmental issues;
Supporting communities by addressing social issues.
Eligibility Criteria
Are registered with the City’s Supply Chain Management Department as a supplier
Are registered on National Treasury’s supplier database
Provide a detailed description of project, including breakdown of project costs, and start and end dates
Provide information on how the allocation of a grant-in-aid will promote job creation and the estimated number of job opportunities it will create
Provide a copy of the organisation’s constitution and Annual General Meeting (AGM) minutes (not older than 18 months)
Provide proof of bank account details
Provide a valid tax clearance certificate
Provide a valid PBO / NPO certificate
Provide a copy of the latest paid-up municipal account. If in arrears, a repayment arrangement must be made in order to be eligible for grant-in-aid funding. If a lease agreement is in place, the property owner’s municipal account must be paid up
Provide an income and expenditure statement as tabled at the previous AGM, if the grant-in-aid amount being applied for is less than R50 000,
Submit a zero-rated tax invoice with the City’s VAT number (4500193497), if registered as a VAT vendor.
