Chez Alpha Books hiring a Bookstore & Education Space Manager.

Position Type: Full time, must be able to work on Saturdays.

Chez Alpha Books is a community-focused English book store and education center operating in Dakar since 2011. In addition to a book store, Chez Alpha Books offers a lending library, provides English language courses (beginners, academic prep, conversational, business) and assistance with international university admissions (test prep, counseling, application support). The books range from diverse fiction to non-fiction, encompassing business, self-help, art/design, and music, etc. Chez Alpha Books is particularly known for its diverse children’s books selection and curated multi-cultural choice of authors. In addition, Chez Alpha coordinates book launch programs for a selection of acclaimed authors.

Job Description
Chez Alpha is seeking to recruit a creative individual with an entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to small business development to manage operations and develop new partnerships to boost the center’s outreach and impact. We are looking for a problem solver with a keen passion for books, ready for new challenges and able to exercise leadership skills in order to take Chez Alpha Books to a new level.

As a manager you will need to oversee daily operations for a grass roots organization that straddles the private and public sector and is service and client driven. You will manage inventory and other resources, lead the staff, build new partnership and ensure quality service. The position requires both stock and resource management experience, and relationship building. We seek hands-on- leadership with attention to details and an interest/ability to expand an established, growing business. More specifically, the position responsibilities include:

Oversee daily operations:

Administer and manage small staff and occasional interns
Contribute to maintaining social media presence and outreach
Supervise logistics

Manage inventory
Ensure best-in-class customer service and client satisfaction
Engage with international and multicultural clientele and institutions
Continue to further drive sales locally, nationally and globally
Manage new Relationships

Identify new and emerging markets
Establish and maintain communication with education, retail and hospitality institutions.
Assist team with coordination of community outreach programs including identifying opportunities for book fairs, participation in exhibitions, book launch events and school visits, etc.
Engage with international and multicultural clientele and institutions
Contribute to maintaining Chez Alpha social media presence and outreach

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bac + 4 or Bac + 3 with minimum 3-5 years experience in business, education management or marketing
Bilingual (French and English)
Skilled in use of Microsoft Office and Google suite of programs especially Excel, Google Sheets and PowerPoint
Ability to manage professional communications and interact with multicultural and multi-lingual environments

Preferred Skills
Previous management experience
Prefer someone with awareness of international education
A book lover with awareness of Pan African authors
Must be respectful and knowledgeable of local culture and able to work with a local team
Excellent communication skills
Strong abilities with social media marketing
