Chemonics seeks an organizational development director for an anticipated multiyear, USAID-funded HIV/AIDS project in South Sudan. This position is anticipated to be based in Juba, with regional travel. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
Provide hands-on technical assistance and mentoring to strengthen administrative, operational, and financial capacity to acquire and manage direct donor funding from USAID and other donors
Facilitate technical assistance to improve case management implementation and quality, including readying organizations for PEPFAR’s Site Improvement Monitoring System assessments for community sites and community organizations providing HIV services
Facilitate the exchange of knowledge and plans related to organizational development and the acquisition and management of direct donor funding
Provide leadership, mentorship, and coaching on implementing strategic plans
Support assessments to determine the organization’s financial, operational, and technical strengths and weaknesses, reviewing and revising their strategic plans as needed
Facilitate the development of short-, medium-, and long-term strategies for an organizational framework with diminishing USAID funding
Assist with the development of business plans that reflect the vision, strategy, institutional capabilities, and organizational structures necessary to sustain operations independently
Support the development of strategies to build a supply of talent and organizational capacity systems
Help clarify the organization’s value proposition, including developing strategies for community engagement
Facilitate the development of a focused resource-mobilization plan
Inform the evaluation of partnerships with participating universities and government ministries to ensure support for the network beyond USAID funding
Help develop partnerships between CSOs, CBOs and multilateral international organizations to foster their ownership of programs, advance activity implementation, and enable technical assistance
Facilitate the establishment and institutionalization of administrative, operational, and financial knowledge management; IT systems; policies; and procedures
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred
Minimum eight years of experience in senior leadership positions within international development organizations
Experience working on or familiarity with PEPFAR-funded programs
Demonstrated expertise in organizational development and capacity building or capacity development
Demonstrated ability to manage complex organizational, personnel, administrative, financial, and cross-cultural dynamics in South Sudan or other fragile settings
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
Fluency in English required
