Chemonics seeks a key populations advisor for an anticipated multiyear, USAID-funded HIV/AIDS project in South Sudan. This position is anticipated to be based in Juba, with regional travel. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
Directly supervise technical and clinical staff and community-based partners and service delivery points offering HIV testing, focusing on increasing case finding and linkage to treatment for key populations, particularly in Juba, Rumbek, Nimule, Bor and Yambio
Ensure state-of-the-art clinical and technical approaches and methods are used in case finding, linkage and retention in Juba, Rumbek, Nimule, Bor and Yambio
Integrate client-friendly approaches to service delivery for key populations and offer safe spaces
Contribute technical inputs related to training, supervision, mentoring, and quality-assurance HIV services
Lead training of technical and clinical staff in the integrated management of HIV and other conditions
Collaborate with Ministry of Health officials, state and county authorities, donors, and other national and international institutions, agencies, or projects
Contribute to project budgets, reports, work plans, and other activities
Coordinate with headquarters technical and program staff providing support to the project
Regularly travel to the project’s service-delivery sites for key populations to monitor progress and provide technical assistance and supervision
Participate directly in training, QA/QI, and monitoring and evaluation activities related to the performance-management system, including baseline assessments, annual assessments, and periodic project reviews
Strengthen program, partner, and staff capacity to generate, interpret, and use routine evidence to strengthen program decision-making
Qualifications:
Advanced degree (M.P.H. or equivalent) preferred, with minimum 8 years of experience as a nurse or clinical officer, with a minimum 5 years of experience working in HIV clinical and public-health services and quality assurance related to key populations
Previous experience working with key populations in Africa
Knowledge of the South Sudanese health system at all levels preferred
Experience working with the government developing and/or implementing health programs and services
Experience working with international organizations and donors in South Sudan preferred
Proven supervisory experience leading teams to successful outcomes
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
Fluency in English required
