Chemonics seeks a deputy technical director for the anticipated USAID Malaria Capacity Strengthening activity in Mozambique. The project aims to support the implementation of proven malaria interventions at community and facility levels, strengthen management capacity of the provincial and district Ministry of Health personnel to provide oversight and supervision of malaria interventions and improve health management information system, data reporting, analysis and use at the provincial and district levels. The deputy technical director is responsible for providing technical direction and leadership to this activity. This person will assist the chief of party, technical director, and project team in the development of technical strategies and work plans. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:Supervise technical specialists, and staff while working closely with other project staff and Chemonics home office staff 
Facilitate coordination with MOH personnel and provincial and district levelSupports the development of high-level technical deliverables and reports to ensure their timely submissionSupports the development of high-level technical deliverables and reports to ensure their timely submissionProvides ongoing technical oversight and management support at the provincial and district levelParticipates in the development and dissemination of technical knowledge management materials through various venues Supports other tasks and objectives as designated by the Technical Director
Qualifications:A bachelor’s degree is required, a master’s degree in operations management, international development, or public health, preferred and seven (7) years of experience minimum in high-level technical supervision
Experience managing consultants and/or technical experts at a regional levelDemonstrated ability to manage and implement complex USAID-funded public health programs or projects in a developing country context preferredDemonstrated ability to work with cooperating partners in implementing complex programsExcellent interpersonal, written, and oral communications skillsDemonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrityExcellent written and verbal skills in English and Portuguese
